To feel totally unappreciated in my workplace?

I work in a sales environment. I am part time but most months my sales exceed those of the full time staff, so I am usually the top salesperson each month.

However in my workplace there is a favourite employee who is full time but usually gets half the sales that I do each month. She gets all of the praise, all of the appreciation and is often wheeled out as being basically the cream of the crop at work. She is invited to meetings that I am excluded from, the management all rave about her and she gets treated like a queen.

If she makes any sales the management all make a big deal out of congratulating her and telling everyone how wonderful she is. If I make a sale I get no more than an "Oh, Freya's done a sale". Sometimes my manager doesn't even look up from her desk and acknowledge me when I take through the paperwork for a new sale.

I know that I am getting commission and that should be enough, but the whole thing is really starting to grate on me.

That's very odd of them. How are they with other salespeople? Is it just this one woman? Is she friends with one of the managers?

YANBU. Fuck them and go work for their competitor.

Maybe it's because they're so used to her incompetence that when she makes a sale they feel they have to make a big deal.

Kind of when a puppy constantly craps on the kitchen floor, the one time they manage a crap in the garden everyone has to come and look and cheer "Well Done Pickles, isn't Pickles a GOOD BOY, LOOK AT PICKLES"

I agree with Troll. Stuff em, go somewhere where you are appreciated.

I am so with you. I have a colleague who is as thick as shit. We are meant to congratulate her when she gets through the day without fucking up. When she fucks up (a frequent event) she denies it was her. Then when you prove incontrovertibly it was her she "remembers". Management think she is lovely however she is snide and sniping. I feel like slamming my head against a wall as she talks inane bollocks all day long.

I think the problem is we are both part time. It seems you are not taken seriously if you are part time. Very wrong but seems to apply in many jobs.

I had a similar issue last year. I was the 3rd highest earner in my sales team as the only part timer. Also the only person not given an annual bonus. They soon changed their mind when I spoke to a lawyer and asked for a written explanation under the Part Time Workers Directive.
