To leave my baby asleep in his car seat as long as he likes right now?

Baby DS is totally none sleeping
He has his daytime naps on me, and the little sleep his does have during the night he's in my bed attached to my face
He won't sleep in the car, as soon as the engine stops he's up
Same in the pram - as soon as I stop moving he's awake

We've just been swimming and he fell asleep in the car on the way home, I carried the car seat into the living room and half an hour later he's still there fast asleep and snoring!!
This is absolutely unheard of!

So WIBU to say fuck the guidelines, leave him there as long as he wants and go and eat, drink a hot cup of tea and poo by myself?

MrsJayy you are meant to stop and take baby out the seat at regular intervals. For instance if it was three hours stop after an hour and a half and everyone stretches their legs or if a young baby then just holding them out of the car seat in your arms

He's 8 months, his head doesn't really tend to flor forwards, he's got it off to the side
I'm seriously going swimming every day, this is amazing Grin

MrsJayy · 06/07/2016 14:14

NoCapes · 06/07/2016 14:22

""I'm seriously going swimming every day, this is amazing""

My GD, eighteen months, is completely knackered, by going swimming.

As said, just keep an eye on him.

My GD could be lifted and put on a couch and would go back off, she was that tired.

ExtraHotLatteToGo · 06/07/2016 14:26

There's no way on this little green earth I'd disturb him, not even if the guidelines were 10 minutes!

Just ENJOY!!

Maybebabybee · 06/07/2016 14:27

God no yanbu!! Enjoy. Smile

Hiddenaspie1973 · 06/07/2016 14:47

I used to do this after swimming. Enjoy x x

Thequilltosurvive · 06/07/2016 14:51

The guidelines say a max of two hours anyway don't they? Snooze away, little baby!

ChowNowBrownCow · 06/07/2016 14:51

My DS slept in a slightly reclined pushchair all night. He absolutely would not sleep in a cot. He would scream and bang his head repeatedly on the cot bars. He has autism and though we didn't know this at the time he liked being in a small confined space, strapped in, hood up on the pushchair. The Health visitor at the time had no problems. He is a very healthy boy with no back issues or breathing problems. I think your baby will be absolutely fine in a car seat for such a short time. Please let him sleep and enjoy a bit of a chill yourself.

Vickyyyy · 06/07/2016 14:51

Both of mine used to sleep in their carseats, sometimes for hours at a time. Also in their bouncers. Health visitor used to go wild about it, but they seemed comfy and were fine...I do think sometimes the guidelines are a bit...too cautious. Aslong as you can see them and keep an eye its unlikely anything will happen tbh

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 06/07/2016 14:53

Sometimes I used to wedge the bottom of the car seat against the sofa or something so the seat is tipped back slightly and their head isn't lolling forward when sleeping.

Enjoy your little rest. I would be making him swim lengths of the bath every night to tire him out. Wink

Vanillaradio · 06/07/2016 14:54

Ds is 2.8 and still has a nap after swimming (literally the only time he will have a napSmile) Enjoy!

Cuppaand2biscuits · 06/07/2016 14:56

I only ever took mine swimming so that they would sleep afterwards! And usually that sleep would be in a car seat.

NoCapes · 06/07/2016 14:58

I thought the guidelines were an hour and a half not 2 hours tbh
He's awake now anyway, absolutely fine and wrecking the house - normality is restored Smile

He has been swimming before but always at the weekend when we've took the older DC, today we went to a baby swim class so the water was warmer and there was music on - I'll be first in the cue next week Grin

He sounds like he's going to be one of those children who, when they start walking, need to be taken out twice day (like a puppy) to sleep well!!

ineedwine99 · 06/07/2016 16:00

Leave him :-) not like he lives in the car seat24/7
Enjoy some you time

Natsku · 06/07/2016 19:17

Having a sudden flashback to when mine was in the throes of the 4 month sleep regression and I tried to get her to nap by strapping her carseat on top of the washing machine! I soon snapped out of it thank goodness but fuck those were some tough times.
