Farage and Boris are missing in action after their stunning result. Cameron is keeping his head down. Labour party are fighting like a bag of cats. The Bank of England has said that the effects of Brexit are starting to crystalize and the pound has still not settled. NUF have said they won't be able to find enough workers to harvest their crops, food prices are going to go up (though not sure when).
The BBC seems to have been harbouring another celebrity who they seemed to have thought they could't survive without and let him behave monstrously to staff. An organisation that I have respected for so long has disgraced itself, once again despite all their internal reviews and blah blah blah....

Am I being overwhelmed by the media or are things circling the plug hole? I need some sensible heads here.

I'm a bit Shock at a that Chris Evans a quote.

But then I did always think he is was a bit of a prick...

Destinysdaughter · 05/07/2016 22:18

Sorry kindle playing up!

Destinysdaughter · 05/07/2016 22:21

Personally I think they should have really stiff sentences for hate crimes like they did for the rioters. 6 months imprisonment for stealing a bottle of water? To deter others in future. Not gonna happen tho...

lolaflores · 05/07/2016 22:24

Sterling has taken a hit. I wait to see the new investments and tourism that come out of that. Genuinely I do but I think they may be a ways a way right now and not a given. Mind you, a country where people of other nations are viewed with suspicion might not be high on some folks destinations.

i hate that the press are going to make this sooo public .... I don't like seeing people's lives splashed soooo publicly across papers. Part of the price of fame etc but he has a family, a little boy, bills to pay etc .... Doesn't make what he did acceptable ( if it's true)...I just don't want to read about it ?
I do feel for the woman too... Please don't read this as a support message for CE but o hate the media sometimes

It's only 12 days since the referendum so I think things are moving fairly swiftly with choosing a new PM, given the unexpected result and Cameron's unexpected resignation. I think Cameron should have been prepared to act on the result either way and trigger article 50 himself, as he called the referendum. However I'm relieved that a number of potential new PMs didn't put their names forward or are now out of the running. My own view is that things will get back on track and Brexit will be well worth it in the long run.

Dragongirl10 · 05/07/2016 22:35

the uk is seen as a very safe destination, there have always been some very vile individuals who at any chance will spout their hatred but already people are fighting back.....l saw a group really turn on a guy on a train this week for making a comment to someone who was an immigrant...he really got beaten back into his place. smiley face

Moistly · 05/07/2016 22:40

Bloody Chris Evans Angry

I bet his willy's horrible

lolaflores · 05/07/2016 22:47

Liam Fox has bowed out so far and Theresa May has won the first round. Fingers crossed for a safe pair of hands. I think.

• The pound plunging to a new 31-year low against the dollar, falling 2% to $1.30 at one point.

• A closely watched survey of the services sector coming in worse than expected, indicating a sharp slowdown in the wider economy.

• The Bank of England easing regulations on banks to allow them to release up to £150bn worth of loans to households and businesses.

• Chancellor George Osborne held a summit with the heads of the major high street banks, who pledged to avoid a new credit crisis by making loans available.

The property funds barring withdrawals included M&G Investments, which runs a £4.4bn property fund, and Aviva Investors, whose fund has assets worth £1.8bn.

I presume this is nothing to worry about then.

op you asked for opinions....if you don't like them that's up to you.

lolaflores · 05/07/2016 23:33

Dragon what I am witnessing might just be confirming some of my concerns and that we are indeed at a pivotal point in the countries future and I am not comforted by a "lets see what happens" approach. And judging from other responses, I am not alone.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 05/07/2016 23:40

Yeah the news is like a soap opera.

Ironically the people who used to say the country has gone to the dogs, have actually sent the country to the dogs.

A4Document · 05/07/2016 23:47

That's just what we'd have been doing if we stayed in the EU as well. Hoping for reforms that may well never have happened. There are no crystal balls on either side.

Dragongirl10 · 05/07/2016 23:49

Sounds like you are determined to get agreement for your concerns and they are valid, but as yet nobody knows exactly how this will play out it could be better or worse than we all fear.

OllyBJolly · 05/07/2016 23:55

I think when Theresa May is Prime Minister we will look back in nostalgia to the good old rudderless days

I fear you are correct, Annandale The current line up of candidates makes Cameron look benevolent.

Ironically the people who used to say the country has gone to the dogs, have actually sent the country to the dogs Sums it up, Sinister. although we were en route....

The UK government must be the laughing stock of the world right now. Thank fuck I'm in Scotland (and I'm not an SNP voter but do think Nicola Sturgeon is the only leader who has handled the situation with dignity and common sense).

lolaflores · 06/07/2016 00:11

Dragon I don't expect agreement but I am wondering where the people who are meant to be in charge have gone just when we need assurances. Left in the hands of the media (who are biased in both directions) the people (Remain and Leave) are down a dark alley looking for the light. No one has lined up any concrete proposals to put the brakes on what is happening. I doesn't feel like it is going to be alright at this moment. There is a void.

Not worth getting it out of his trousers apprently Moistly, from what I've heard. Bob Mortimer talked about this in an inteview, and he said if you were sitting down at party when Chris Evans was around, he'd sneak up behind you and slap it on your shoulder. Not as bad as Keith Allen though - apprently he'll dip his in your pint if you're not careful. Looks for puke icon.

mimishimmi · 06/07/2016 01:27

Western countries in general have been in decline since WW2 when they knocked so many of us or our friends off and the rest of us had to deal with this kind of sick behaviour from their descendants. We hate their guts but basically powerless (aka dirt poor) to do anything about it so a lot of us just stopped having kids... hence labour shortages etc. it's the only way to cope.

sall74 · 06/07/2016 06:28

The people who really run this country are still firmly in control, that's the bankers and the big corporate entities, it's just their political puppets who do all their bidding for them that are currently running around like headless chickens.

LapinR0se · 06/07/2016 06:37

I would die if Chris Evans flashed his little ginger willy-worm at me. Disgusting.
Anyway yes the rest of them have all fucked off in to their man caves.
Let's take Obama when he finishes up in november

BerriesandLeaves · 06/07/2016 06:38

Yanbu.

You could do like my brexit voting parents do and get all your news from the Telegraph. Then you'll think everything is hunky dory and we have a bright future ahead of us and the younger generation haven't been totally shafted.

BerriesandLeaves · 06/07/2016 07:11

"News" that should say.

665TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 06/07/2016 07:17

But look what the last woman PM was like. We don't want that again

Why would you say this?
Why are all women the same....and yet all the men who are in any position of power are individual personalities.
And it's about the 4th time I've heard it.
Any woman who does the same job as a man and Is percieved as having the same level of skill is actually 20% better at it, just to get over gender bias.

A4Document · 06/07/2016 08:51

I agree 665. No-one tells us to look at what the last male PM was like.
