To think he's just after sex?

Chatting to someone on tinder (he "super liked" me whatever that means), keeps calling me by a pet name to do with my hair and not super chatty, mainly jokey. If I ask questions eg about his week he'll reply and then put "you?"...

He lives far away so if we were to go on a date (has semi been mentioned) it would take a lot of planning. Although I am moving nearer next month.

Aibu to think he's just after sex?! I'm really not. Would prefer someone to take an interest in me as a person. Not sure whether to just stop communicating...

Are you 'Blondie' from another thread? You were worried he didn't really fancy you because he said you had pretty hair but didn't mention your face?

I thought Tinder was supposed to be an easy way of getting a shag rather than for developing relationships but perhaps I'm wrong. Online dating is a bit of a mystery to me tbh.

KissMyArse I am glad someone else remembers.

icelollycraving · 05/07/2016 18:54

I did online dating. I was 'blondey' to many of the men on there.
Has the conversation been a bit flirtatious sexually? If so,you're two messages away from a pic of his cock.

ktalgfdk · 05/07/2016 18:59

Nah not really, a bit flirtatious but no cock pics!! Which is always good. As I say it's confusing because we don't live near each other. I jokingly said I may pop up for a visit and he responded pretty enthusiastically and said he'd buy me a drink. But nothing sorted, oh well, I may just leave it and see what happens

OP why should you go visit him? Let him put the effort in and visit you in your home town. If he can't be bothered to travel and meet you then that doesn't bode well.

Tinder is a hook-up site not a serious dating app. If you are looking for a relationship use a different app or website. Using Tinder but saying you're worried your matches might just be looking for sex is like going to a nudist beach while worrying about seeing peoples bits!

MLGs · 05/07/2016 19:23

I think idea of tinder is you chat to a few people simultaneously, meet anyone you think you might get along with for, say, a coffee, and take it from there. Sort of narrowing the field as you go.

I don't think it works if you only chat to one person at a time.

Obviously you can do as you like. I wouldn't put all my eggs in the basket of this bloke though.

MLGs · 05/07/2016 19:26

Ps I'm not sure about that surf. I'm sure it can be a hookup site but the people I've met up with from tinder haven't been looking for a one night stand.

ktalgfdk · 05/07/2016 19:55

I suggested I'd visit because I'm moving near to his area. Anyway who knows. Yeah a lot of people I know have had LT relationships out of tinder (not that that's necessarily what I'm looking for, more just to see what's out there).

Def haven't put eggs in one basket but thanks Smile Chatting to quite a few people but this guy asked for number etc etc

Ummm isn't Tinder for those looking for exactly that?!

ktalgfdk · 05/07/2016 20:05

No frenchfancy not really - some use it for that but not everybody!

I know tinder, I've been on it, I'd say if he's not arranging to meet then he is probably in a relationship/married and just messing you about to fill in his spare time and massage his ego. Unmatch and move on!

Junosmum · 05/07/2016 20:11

I thought tinder was just about quick hook ups?

Plenty of fish is for a fling, match for a bit more and e-harmony for the really serious.

MysteriesOfTheOrganism · 05/07/2016 20:17

How about stop playing games and simply tell him what you're looking for and not looking for and ask him where he's coming from?
