Wedding related <sorry> florist nightmare

My first AIBU I think so am prepared for a variety of answers. I'll try and keep it brief. DP and I getting married in two weeks. Small reg office do. Only booked a few weeks ago. Since then been trying to find a florist to do one bouquet for me and one buttonhole for DP. Emailed 6 places 5 of which haven't replied and 1 said they were fully booked. I haven't called or called in to said places because it's a faff with my DS and would like to find out their prices first. Anyway I turned to the friend of an ex colleague who runs a business through facebook. I messaged her and she said she'd help me out and to give her a ring on Monday. I've just called her and she was downright rude saying "I can't talk now I'm at work. I don't do flowers all the time" I apologised and said I was sorry I didn't realise and when should I call back "I don't know" she replied and hung up. WIBU to just try and find someone else at this short notice or do it myself or should I give her the benefit of the doubt? My issue is that if she couldn't talk a.) why did she ask me to ring today and b.) why did she even answer her phone? The way she spoke to me has upset me a bit but I am pregnant so....hormones etc.
Sorry that was long!

I'm in Bolton have had done a few friends' wedding flowers but not a florist.
If you get stuck I'll do you a bouquet and button hole for cost + a piece of wedding cake 😄

Two recommendations for you www.realflowercompany.co.uk . I've used them a few times and the flowers are just gorgeous. Their standard flowers are pretty enough to be used as bridal bouquets, classy and romantic. Or a try a bouquet made from costume jewellery - there's a lady at the arts centre at Macckesfield Silk Museum who makes them and they're super glam/ retro if that's your thing. I think you can get them online too - try googling brooches for brides. Both can get bouquets to you at short notice too. Good luck !

Ahh thank you Queen and thank you all for your brilliant suggestions Smile I have finally been successful with a local florist, they can do what I need within our budget. Yay! Rude Facebook florist can bugger off. She hasn't contacted me so far to explain earlier! She obviously doesn't need the business?!
Thank you again you lovely vipers all FlowersFlowersFlowersStarStarStar

bit late to the party glad you sorted it, but years ago in a similar situation i struggled to get a wedding bouquet in a small size for a registry office wedding at a price I could afford (yes the word wedding seemed to double the price) so i did my own with silk flowers and a buttonhole for DH. at our 25th anniversary last year he wore the buttonhole and the bouquet was on display next our wedding photo Smile

Yay! Well done OP. FlowersFlowersFlowersStarStarStarCake

You could try your local fe college. Might be a bit late but the tutor may still be looking for portfolio opportunities for students.

Bob to Manchester City Centre, there's a beautiful stall in the Arndale at the moment that do bouquets, buttonholes, all sorts of flowers & also flowers in glass cases like out of Beauty & the Beast, all different colours & theyre real flowers but treated so they last up to three years! They look stunning. (I bought the beauty & the beast type rose because I'm a sad adult Disney fan)

sizeofalentil · 04/07/2016 19:46

Honestly, I'd just buy two bunches of flowers from waitrose and some ribbon and pins from eBay.

Pick apart the best bits for your bouquet and make a small button hole. It really is easy - I am appalling at this sort of thing but made my own and they looked amazing.

CattDamon · 04/07/2016 19:46

Oops I was a bit late there wasn't i

Hi OP, I live not too far from Bolton.
Florists round my way are reasonably priced - try Rainbow Florists on Walkden Rd or Floral Designs by Anne-Marie on Bolton Rd, she did my bouquet and was brill. Good luck! Xx

Angrybird234 · 04/07/2016 21:00

M28, I should have put previously x

Angrybird234 · 04/07/2016 21:01

Oh just seen your update- great stuff! 👍

TweedAddict · 04/07/2016 21:02

Get someone else to do them.

This is a great company, they have been know to sort out wedding flowers overnight before and they will do exactly what you want.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 05/07/2016 01:35

Hurrah! Glad you've got it sorted, and rude florist can stick it! Grin

OlennasWimple · 05/07/2016 01:40

Text or email her to say that you have found someone else who San help

Go to a florist who does those hand tied bouquets in a gift bag and ask them to reserve you one in the appropriate colours, along with a button hole type flower. You can wrap a ribbon around to make them both more wedding-y

OlennasWimple · 05/07/2016 01:40

X post, sorry!

SapphireStrange · 05/07/2016 11:18

Good-o!

And yes, the rude Facebook florist clearly doesn't need the business, so she can get to fuck.

Hopelass · 05/07/2016 16:21

Spoke to "lovely florist" as I have now named new local florist and they can do my flowers on the morning of the wedding ready for the ceremony at 3pm. All excited now Grin
Rude florist never called me back so I haven't had the satisfaction of telling her to fuck off that we've got someone else. Quite disappointing that.
