to ask if you can feel the lymph nodes in your groin area?

Just panicking a bit as I can clearly feel several lumps which I assume are lymph nodes on each side of my groin. They are not painful and I am not ill. Don't know why but I've suddenly started to wonder if it's normal or not and stuff I've googled has quite frankly freaked me out.

I went to the GP about a swollen lymph node at the side of my groin a few years ago and she said the lymph nodes there are connected to your feet?? The swelling of mine turned out to be caused by athlete's foot, which I was suffering from at the time.

So, have you got any foot problems that might explain it?

Constantly worry about this but have been to 4 doctors who tell me they are completely normal.

By the way googling it has kick started my health anxiety hence visiting 4 doctors.

Lymph nodes in your groin can be up to 1.5cm and still completely normal. So a tiny bit bigger than a pea. Think they are called "shotty nodes" or something like that. It just means after responding to infection they never quite go down to normal size. (So my doctor tells me- I've had this worry too).

Go to your GP OP. Mine were sticking out several years ago & coupled with rapid weight loss, he was concerned. Got referred to the cancer ward of my local hospital £ they thankfully gave me the all clear.

I can feel mine. Like lots of hard peas! Doctor said its normal.

Yep, me too. About the size of a kidney bean.

I can feel mine like kidney beans, also have a much bigger one in my armpit (more like a two pence piece) and on under my left jaw.

Do not use Dr Google for even the most innocuous of things, because sure as hell once you are done reading you will have yourself at death's door.

My DD (6)/has had enlarged nodes in her neck, jaw and groin since her first MMR.

I've been told not to worry about it.

I think it's very normal but do go to the GP to check. When was your last smear? I don't want to panic you but SIL had a prominent lymph node checked out and was found to have pre-cancerous cells in an emergency smear. Everything caught early and now fine, so well worth checking.

I went to see the gp about this, just woke up one morning and there they were really hard and a little sore. Turned out I had an infection even though I felt well. The gp did say that if they hadn't gone in two weeks to go back but they went down within a few days. Maybe leave it a week to see what happens.

Mine have been up for at least a year..

Smear test all clear

I feel them a bit when I have a virus (overactive immune system). They swelled up quite a bit when I had glandular fever, and were very sore to the touch. You can feel them if you go looking for them (so to speak). Are you feeling vaguely under the weather? Otherwise it's really quite normal.

It's probably normal, give yourself 3 days and if they're still there I'd see the GP.

You might be fighting an infection that you haven't realised yet, or it might be a mild one but your immune system is going OTT in its reaction.

There are only a couple of nodes closer to your feet than your groin so it's not surprising (and very cool) that they're linked to athletes foot!

I grazed my leg once very slightly and it caused them to swell. Dr said it was normal for any trauma to cause swelling.

They often swell - if not tender & they are mobile & no problems with feet/legs then likely nothing to worry about - GP will easily check though

FWIW please don't go googling symptoms - speak to a professional who can give you a sensible, balanced opinion

Hasn't happened in ages and I am over sixty but used to have this, I believe it is a sign that your body is fighting an infection.

Hi, as you can probably guess by my username I'm familiar with lymph nodes!! You can often feel them all over your body, sometimes the swell a little and return to normal but it's still possible to feel them. They usually swell during infections and such. If you're concerned get them checked. I've had lymphoma and the nodes on my neck swelled, but when I say swelled I mean to the size of a golf ball, they were painless hard and non mobile, I highly doubt it's anything to worry about, ones that massively swell on the collar bone are the most suspicious and lymphoma is rare. The more you fiddle with them the more they will swell so don't fiddle, groin nodes tend not to be suspicious but like I said if you're concerned get a once over ( they can also swell slightly after wearing tight clothes legging, jeans ect) xx

I'm great now, 3rd year into remission so can't complain! Just remember you can feel them that's a good thing it means they are doing their job xx

I think if it's normal for you - it's not something to worry about.

I get a swollen lymph node in my neck if I wear cheap earrings. My youngest quite often will have swollen nodes in his groin for no apparent reason.

Yep, I'm very bobbly. Neck, armpits, groin.
