my son uses contraception when I find a used condom by the kitchen bin?

or should I loose my temper and shout at him for being so bloody careless ?

Should I be glad the dog didnt eat it as I wouldnt care to see that coming through his little bottom?

would ask son to pick it up, but as we have more than one son, who is going to admit that they left it there?

this is our Sunday morning dilemma, and a the down side of having adult slobby sons still living at home.

BY the kitchen bin? Ew! I'd just be grossed out by that, but at least they're taking precautions.

WorraLiberty · 03/07/2016 12:04

No need to lose your temper and start shouting.

Just tell them both you don't need to know who did it, but that whoever it was needs to be more careful.

Apart from how gross it is, it actually could have caused the dog to need an operation.

OurBlanche · 03/07/2016 12:07

Take a picture, print it out, twice. Pin it to their bedroom door with a note: My Darling Boys,

As your mum I am really glad you have taken on board all advice and are sensible enough to use a condom. I am so proud to have raised such thoughtful young men.

Proud of you as I am, I am not so keen on clearing up the aftermath! Close enough really is not good enough

Your loving mother

Creatureofthenight · 03/07/2016 12:09

Agree with Worra. It is gross but no need to lose it, just explain they need to be more careful.

hippiedays · 03/07/2016 12:13

Kitchen bin? Where did they do the deed......

Personally if it is in the bin why would your dog have eaten it? Where was he supposed to bin it? I'm guessing your bin doesn't have a lid so he should have buried it in the bottom of the bin? Or gone outside to the big bin?

CakeNinja · 03/07/2016 12:13

Yuk!
But yes, no need to lose it, just a reminder on clearing up after themselves.

DubiousCredentials · 03/07/2016 12:14

I'd be assuming he had had sex in the kitchen and would be presenting him with some antibacterial spray and a pair of marigolds to remove trace elements from my work surfaces Angry

CakeNinja · 03/07/2016 12:18

hippie it was next to the bin, not in it.

OohMavis · 03/07/2016 12:23

Do they have bins in their rooms?

I'd be hot-footing it to wilkos and presenting them with two new bins with a pointed look.

That's grim!

hippiedays · 03/07/2016 12:24

Ah sorry I thought it was in the bin but on top of the rubbish.

Well the you need to speak to him of course and remind him he is at home and not a student flat share.

Maverick66 · 03/07/2016 12:28

Agree with ourblanche

Responsible? Yes
Respectful of others in a shared space ? No

yorkshapudding · 03/07/2016 12:44

"I'm really glad that you're being sensible and using precautions but I don't want to be finding used condoms in the kitchen bin. Use the bin in your room please. Also I hope it goes without saying that sex in the kitchen or any other communal areas of the house is not ok"

Job done. No need for shouting or losing of tempers, just make it clear what you will and won't accept. Once you've done that, if they ignore your rules and do it again that would be another matter!
