He already RUINED EDUCATION, is he really bigheaded enough to think that he will be a good Prime Minister?

HandInGove · 03/07/2016 11:05

Gove is terrifying but the other scary thing is that he makes the alternatives in his party look reasonable when they are anything but as PP have said.

aquashiv · 03/07/2016 11:40

He is only in the running to make Theresa May look like the great white hope. He will not be the leader ever.

longfingernails · 03/07/2016 11:44

He won't win.

It's a shame. His education reforms are fantastic, and he did solid work in justice too. But it's going to be a Theresa landslide, which is not too bad. She's just a bit too authoritarian; if she can tone that down she's generally quite sound.

LaurieMarlow · 03/07/2016 13:40

his education reforms are fantastic

Okaaay then ...

Backs away quietly Confused

He would kill his granny to get his foot a bit higher up the greasy pole of politics. He alienated just about every teacher in the country and even though he said before he doesn't have what it takes to be PM, now, suddenly he puts himself up for the job. When Theresa May and the other right-wing maniacs going for the post, start to look like good choices, then you know we are totally up shit creek minus a paddle.

EdmundCleverClogs · 03/07/2016 15:09

longfingernails is either his wife or is being extremely sarcastic....

The whole lot are awful. I see a General Election being called within a year (which is even scarier, considering the 'right wingness' of the country at the moment). Gove is more than useless though, just a walking horror show (in terms of politics, of course).

Statelychangers · 03/07/2016 15:10

His zealous, dogmatic, rose coloured, retro thinking ways would be a disaster - he'd rather die than compromise his principles, not a good approach to leadership.

Beeziekn33ze · 03/07/2016 15:25

If he got in his DM writer wife will be in charge.

annandale · 03/07/2016 15:35

I don't believe that Beezee but I do think Dominic Cummings will be in charge and that makes me want to die.

YourPerception · 03/07/2016 15:44

I don't even know how anymore has ever taken him seriously.

ghostyslovesheep · 03/07/2016 16:07

His education reforms are making schools bankrupt - genius!

RortyCrankle · 03/07/2016 16:11

No, disaster won't happen and Gove will be an excellent PM to take us out of the EU.

OneArt · 03/07/2016 16:13

YANBU

JudyCoolibar · 03/07/2016 16:14

Gove is a proven liar with a history of home flipping to fiddle expenses. He presided over a department which gave millions of pounds in government money to the government's cronies to set up schools without bothering to make elementary checks into how that money was being used.

How could anyone conceivably trust him?

shazzarooney999 · 03/07/2016 16:35

Hes got no chance, it will be Theresa May shes the lesser of three evils and shes still nasty.

Itriedtodohandstandsforyou · 03/07/2016 16:41

I can't stand his face!

KyloRenNeedsTherapy · 03/07/2016 16:46

longfingernails, you have to elaborate on which of his education reforms were "fantastic"!

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 03/07/2016 16:53

Gove is a nasty little man who was a disaster in Education. I loved the remark by one commenter that "he thinks he's an expert on education because he went to school."

WallisSimpson11 · 03/07/2016 17:58

It's his wife I'm terrified of- looks like a fish!

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 03/07/2016 18:20

I loathe Gove and I hate May ...Gove mucked up Education, treated our children as if they were commodities and through stealth privatised our schools by turning them into academies. He'll do the same to the NHS.
May voted in favour of, and smiled when the vote went through not to let children orphaned through the bombing of Syria (which we supported), and were washed up on the shores of Lesbos, into our country.

At the moment the future of our country is in the hands of vileness. Some one elsewhere on MN said it's like choosing between vomit or piss on your chips - I think that's a pretty good analysis.

Alisvolatpropiis · 03/07/2016 19:27

Yanbu he an awful man who would be potentially dangerous if given enough power.

longfingernails · 03/07/2016 20:20

KyloRenNeedsTherapy Free schools, academisation, making teachers unions squeal with anger, the lack of respect he gave to noddy qualifications like PGCEs and teacher seniority, the lack of tolerance of coasting, and many others. Unpopular, but in time they will prove very successful, as long as wets like Nicky Morgan don't undo them.

JudyCoolibar · 03/07/2016 22:58

Free schools and academies? You mean, longfingernails, like the 136 failing academies, 8 of them in special measures since 2013? The 29 good or outstanding state schools that became inadequate after becoming academies? The Academies Enterprise Trust which, despite having shedloads of government money thrown at it, was found to be delivering substandard education to almost half its pupils? E-Act, which also took shedloads of government money and which had to have a third of its schools taken away from it?

And if you think PGCE is a noddy qualification, I strongly advise you to try it for yourself.

weirdsister · 03/07/2016 23:03

Longfingernails - why would you think that a pgce is a 'noddy' qualification?
