AIBU to carry on giving baby rice milk?

DS is 17 months and since he turned a year we have given him soya milk. He's had terrible skin problems so have switched to rice milk, which he actually prefers. (for bedtime drink).

DD is 6 months, and for the last few weeks we haven't had much sleep because she won't settle and won't drink a full bottle. (she has gaviscon added to her feeds)

We're pulling our hair out and are totally sleep deprived.

Tonight, in desperation, we gave her rice milk and she drank the whole bottle and fell asleep! Oh joy!

Then I Google it and find rice milk is not supposed to be given to children under 4 years. Sad

Would IBU to carry on giving it to them at night before bed or should I stop altogether?

I can ask my hv Monday, but it's Saturday night and needed more immediate, mumsnet advice!
Thanks.

I've just been looking at the nutritional information on various rice milk. The sugar thing seems to be a red herring, as I haven't found any that have a higher sugar content than breast milk. The arsenic is way more of an issue! Oat milk and hemp milk are both much nicer than soy imo.

But the 6mo really does need to be having formula.

I used to thicken DS's bedtime bottle with a little sprinkle of flour if he had reflux. Don't know why, but it did seem to help.

Soy milk can make baby boys infertike so I wouldn't give that either.

It is very important that a baby especially under 12 months has a very healthy diet! Avoiding sugar is one first thing, cow milk is also not good for your baby.
For sure the best thing is breast feeding! There are reasons why a mother cannot breastfeed at or all or all the time. If possible I'd suggest a combination out of breast feeding and organic formula. Here the term organic is very important. I did a lot of research when I started going back to work 2 days a week when my baby was around 9 months old. We did not leave to baby in a grip but the father stayed at home. We managed to find a good balance what was composed out of breast feeding, breast milk I did pump and Holle formula (myorganicformula.com). We didn't take the decision easily as there are many different ways of approaching a babies diet but for us it was important to find the most natural and organic diet possible for our situation!

Rice milk contains low level arsenic! So yes you are BU.

What about goats milk formula?
