AIBU?

To feel absolutely at the end of my tether?

I am about 9 or 10 weeks pregnant (second baby hence lack of exact knowledge on how far along I am...Blush)

I had no nausea with my son. This time.....I feel sick....literally ALL THE TIME. I wake up in the night with it, I feel sick all through the day and I just feel absolutely wrecked physically and emotionally. I am not actually vomiting much....3 or 4 times a week perhaps. ....but constantly retching. ....everything stinks and turns my stomach. I live in Spain in a city so it is 30 degrees and stuffy and I am honestly reduced to tears with how I feel.

People keep saying the following....
It will only last a few more weeks then you will feel fine

But it's just part of being pregnant (from someone who has no experience of being pregnant )

These things are often psychological. ...just stop thinking about it

HAVE YOU TRIED GINGER / GINGER BISCUITS Biscuit (Angry Angry Angry fuckofffuckofffuckingfuckoff Angry Angry Angry)

And also I feel like no one understands at all how emotionally exhausting it is.

Any experiences/tips from people who have been through similar? (NOT ginger biscuits please Wink )

Massive sympathy from me, I remember well how even brushing my teeth made me throw up.

Ginger anything made it worse.

I could eat small amounts of mashed potato. A friend even more severe than me could only keep down cheesy wotsits (and spent her whole pregnancy in hospital.)

My sickness stopped quite suddenly at about 5 1/2 months. I realised one day that I hadn't been sick at all.

Best of luck with it.

Yes I went through it with my first and my last pregnancy(last was our 5th DC)my last was by far the worst.I couldn't keep anything in and ended up in hospital until my Dr put me onto some medication(tiny little blue pills)they were amazing.

But if your feeling sick and not actually being sick I found the bands that you can wear around your wrists really good.Another thing that helped me when I had morning sickness with my first was having a drink(flat 7up)and some dry crackers on my bedside table,I'd have a sip of the drink and slowly nibble on one of the crackers whilst still lying in bed(propped up with pillows)I'd stay there for about 10-15 minutes and then get out bed slowly.

A Dr in Ireland(I was over there visiting)suggested it and it really helped,a couple of days in of doing that I stopped feeling sick and stopped being sick.

Massive sympathies here. I lived in Tenerife as well when pg do also totally get the heat thing too.

For me I found making ice lollies from lemonade helped. Just born from the idea lemonade is good after sickness! Also totally agree with bland food. But avoid carbs hat take a long time to digest as they just sit in stomach and need more acid to digest.

Congratulations btw Flowers

Hang in there. I was as bad as you and I remember the awfulness so well.

No one who hasn't experienced it really understands. Flowers

Oh, and I had it in both pregnancies. When I found out I was pg with DC2 I cried and cried. Not because I didn't want the baby but because I couldn't bear the thought of going through morning sickness again.

But my DS is 6 months old now and was totally, totally worth it!

I found sipping (non-caffeinated) fizzy drinks helped. It was my second pregnancy that was the worst, tiredness from another small child never helps.

Hopefully, it will tail off sometime in the next couple of weeks - unfortunately you are at the notoriously worst time, 6-12 weeks!

You have my utmost sympathy. The things that helped me were:

  1. Mini cheddars and diet coke, constantly grazing.

  1. Not getting too hot (feet in cold water in the washing up bowl, ice pops.

  1. Rest. Felt so much better when I'd had enough sleep.

Flowers for you.

Oh bless you. It's tough enough anyway nevermind in the heat!

What really helped me was normal lemonade and flat normal coke. Apples helped a lot too and when I could manage it mashed potato, sometimes with cheese in. Just grab what you can when you can.

I hope it passes soon for you Flowers

Sorry not normal coke! That gold one. It's caffeine free and diet I think

I ve been there and it's hell but unfortunately you ve just got to get through it. I also got anti sickness tablets so try and visit your doctor.

I was actually being sick constantly and could keep nothing down, not even water. One evening I was sick constantly for hours. I tried to eat but couldn't keep anything down so didn't eat for days. I lost half a stone in weight at the beginning which was not good. So, because I couldn't keep water down I got dehydrated so ended up on a drip.

Not much help but think you ve got to ride it out

You poor thing, it's horrendous.

DS2 I just remember the constant nausea and wretching while I was cooking for DS1 and just wanting to cry and lie on a cold floor for weeks.....

Twiglets were my saviour, I got through tons of them! And salt and vinegar crisps, anything salty really helped. I had to make myself drink little and often, more than 50ml at a time and I'd puke it straight back up. I did find the travel sickness bands helped a bit too, took the edge off anyway!

Oh this brings back memories of my 2nd pregnancy. I was nauseous but ok until week 12 and I naively thought "Oh, I'll be ok from now on.."
Nope.
Sick every bloody day. Barely kept a thing down. Oven chips were my friend, their inoffensive stodginess and almost total lack of smell or flavour did the trick.
I couldn't keep anything remotely heathy down which was bloody odd. In the end I concluded that it was something to do with iron as it was the iron content of Pregnacare that was making me sick and it was things like green veg and red meat I was really reacting too!
I couldn't handle ginger, or any kind of biscuit. Felt sick just at the thought.
From week 12 to week 20 I lost weight. I managed to keep fluid down so was never actually hospitalised, but I think I skirted close as few times as all I'd kept down some days were a few chips.
It eased off at 20 weeks and I piled on the pounds after that! I also got totally sick of people telling me I must be having a girl as I was so ill. They were wrong BTW!
Flowers for you op, unless the smell makes you feel ill!

Huge sympathy OP I'm currently 12 weeks and sickness appears to have increased since about 10 weeks. It's horrible.
