Air show with baby

I am supposed to be going to an airshow this weekend with friends and taking my son who is 5 months old. It will be to where all the stalls are and most of the planes will be flying directly around over our heads.

My friends won't want to view it from far away as they live very close to where it is, and they will understand if I don't come, so there is no politics about it with them. They won't mind if I cancel.

I'm just worried about the amount of noise upsetting my son, AIBU to just not go? Or am I being a perfect first born mum? Grin Has anyone got any wise experience?

Don't talk in riddles, do you mean the Swansea one? I can't wait. The Typhoon was practising this afternoon, there was a bit of cloud and I could hear it, it was flipping loud but could not see it. Hope the skies are clear this weekend.

What time are the Red Arrows flying?

TheColdDoesBotherMeAnyway · 01/07/2016 21:34

Red Arrows are 4:30 tomorrow and 3:20 on Sunday Smile

We've taken both of mine as babies. You can easily avoid the crowds - just head further down the beach. I'm really looking forward to it and it sounds like I'll see a few of you there Grin

We took DS last year to cosford at 5 months. He wore ear defenders the whole time and was fine! Not considered it this year as I know he wouldn't wear the defenders for a minute.

Red arrows: 4:30pm tomorrow and 3:20pm on Sunday.

I couldn't see it either Troy but dd1 saw it from school not that far away!

Thanks for the info. My niece said it landed in her school playing field but she got mixed up with the Air Ambulance.

We watched the airshow at Torquay a couple of weeks ago. It was fantastic. The typhoon was brilliant, but very very loud and a lot of the kids around us were crying, but it was the only really noisy plane out of the lot.

TroysMammy · 01/07/2016 22:11

Littlestbear There will be a marvellous view looking towards Mumbles and I believe there is a high tide in the afternoon too. If the sun comes out you will think you are in heaven. According to Edward and Tubbs it is bigger than Swansea Grin

I wouldn't take a baby. We live not far from the location of a now sadly notorious airshow and ds1 screamed blue murder at the planes coming over when he was a baby. They came quite low overhead circling around and my god the noise, felt like the foundations were vibrating.

That year when ds1 was a baby was the closest they ever came, but they are very noisy.

I might try the top of Clyne gardens.

Ha, I love league of gentlemen for that. 'There is a Swansea!'.

Dh used to have to do air shows as part of his job and pwe attended with babies no problem at all. From being a few weeks out of NICU. There is nowhere warmer than a cockpit when it is peering it down in July and it has just landed, ........ So I would go!

CatherineDeB · 01/07/2016 22:34

We attended and peeing!

My son had his hearing damaged as a baby at a Carribean music festival. He ended up with life long tinnitus.

flappingbingowings · 01/07/2016 22:35

Get some big ear defenders - you will be fine
