I've just arrived at my mil with dds 4 and 1 for dinner tonight. She cooked a chicken at lunchtime and has just left it on the side. So it's been there for about 4 hours and won't be served for another hour. I feel really awkward about this because I am not comfortable about eating it, she will be very offended if I mention it, but I would always cool the chicken and get it in the fridge asap.
Aibu to be concerned, or am I being over cautious? Thanks

You made the right call there, OP. Still warm after 6 hours, it would have been rife with bacteria!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/07/2016 14:15

Actually, I'm not sure I would've wanted it if it s still warm after 6 hours! I didn't realise that when I said I'd eat it, that's too long.

CopperPot · 02/07/2016 17:54

She should've popped it in the fridge once it was room temp

SuperMoonIsKeepingMeUpToo · 02/07/2016 22:29

But it never got there, Copper Potter! The foil kept it warm!

Think I'm a bit over-invested in this one, I just can't get how some people just don't get how easy it is to get food poisoning!

Well my kids would take a chicken sandwich to school for lunch and it would be that long before it was eaten so I think yabu.

RebelRogue · 03/07/2016 00:38

I do that a lot and i never had food poisoning in my life. Dd never has either. Oh tends to get a bad tummy every now and then, but that's mostly take aways and when he cooks himself. However,i can completely understand why you would be weary after being so poorly and surgery.

P.s. I wouldn't have eaten it,mostly because lukewarm chicken is ewww

I like lukewarm chicken! Really tasty & juicy (slurp!) Chilling it makes it all hard & tasteless.
