To tell you all to call HMRC and check if you are owed any tax???

DH finally called HMRC to check if he had overpaid in the previous tax year (after much nagging from me). We were pleasantly surprised to receive a letter from them this morning saying not only do they owe us almost £3k from 2015-16 they owe us almost £1k from 2014-15!

It took under 10 minutes to make the call. Go on, it has to be worth a try!

2012 was the year HMRC admitted to having made a mess of loads of tax. They wrote off under payments but something like a million people got an unexpected rebate. I got around £300.

I'm not ringing them though. My accountant sorts it all out. I owe them c£1,600 from where they paid a rebate twice three years ago and have never reclaimed it. They always say they can see it on the system but have no way to get it back from me - I've had two more rebates since and they've not offset it.

I owe them around £250 for last year too. I have all the money set aside. Plus a few K for corp tax.
