Apparently a guy swabbed 6 tray tables and on 4 of them found MRSA and Norovirus. Travellers report seeing people pick their noses and wipe snot on seats/tray tables. People vomit on their seat and surroundings and parents change nappies on tray tables.

Feeling kind of grossed out now.

Note to self, do not read about such things before traveling.

Definitely not being unreasonable and I'm sorry I know we need bacteria etc but I went on hols to the Maldives years ago had a great time, got on the flight home perfectly healthy no health worries, started to get itchy on the plane got off with a viral rash. Went to GP said it would be gone in a couple of days, 3 weeks later it started to go and I nearly scratched myself to dealth, calamine etc didn't touch it. So disinfect away, all because they didn't clean plane as it'd been delayed.

Urgh. Wishing I hadn't read this thread just as I'm about to book flights.

My 3yo has a really bad habit of putting his hands in his mouth (like a whole fist...), licking them, biting his nails....it's driving me mad. Any ideas on how to get him out of it? All this stuff about shit on trays and seats is grossing me out with his habit in mind.... aaargh

Hi babynearlyhere look on ebay for sensory toys and you'll find a variety of chewies that'll do the trick should help with the air pressure too.

Yes wipe stuff down although hand wipes ars probably more important.A lot of germs gets in when we rub our eyes, which we do without knowing it all the time. But don't obsess. Germs are everywhere and our bodies fight them off all the time. Have lots of fun!!

Its funny i fly all the time and seem to be fine, however attend a child's birthday party and I seem to come down with the worst cold known to man!

Glad I'm only going to Yorkshire for my holidays.

I am a pianist and NOBODY ever cleans piano keyboards. I often play in churches and teach in schools and I am given pianos with beautifully polished cabinets to play and when I open them the keys are covered in dust, hair, glitter, old coffee spills and other indescribable yukky substances. I clean them myself and I ALWAYS wash my hands afterwards before even making a cup of tea.

I always take anti bac- wipes on a plane and hand gel. Also, swear by putting Vaseline around my nostrils and all the family noses too, to prevent breathing in reconstituted germs! It works, honest. Vapour rub doubled up on one flight to combat the slightly smelly man I ended up sitting next to. Result.
Just don't over do it....greasy noses are not a good look.
