Very outing. Probably.

Currently sat in a&e at children's hospital with ds1. We've been here 6hours now and only had the basic info taken by a nurse when we arrived.
A couple with their dd arrived not long before us and also still waiting.
There's been a major paediatric trauma incident which is what is keeping the doctors from seeing us.

My aibu. This guy has gone on and on and on ad infinitum about how ridiculous this is, he's not happy, he's making a complaint.... Non bloody stop!!

Yes it's late, yes it's been a hell of a long night but neither of us have a child in a critical, life or death situation unlike some other poor baby's parents. Surely a little empathy wouldn't go a miss?

I bloody want to go home but I'm also bloody thankful these doctors, nurses & all the other staff are here saving people. Worth a bit of a wait.

Just had to have a bit of a rant. Aibu to think this man is a prize prat?

OK so his child doesn't have her life hanging in the balance, but maybe she's in pain and scared, and her parents are scared and he can't do anything to make it better or go away. Maybe this is the third time this week

That doesn't make it ok for him to be pissing off other parents, and possibly scaring their children.

I once had a grown man waving his finger in my childs face and shouting why did he get in before his kid, who was there first? I told him that it was my child could die from his problem, and his had a sprained fucking ankle. He was removed by security soon after when he started throwing things.

he's a twat.

A and E is horrible. I used to bitch about it all the time, but one of my friends is now an aand e nurse and she explained to me how stressful it is - we don't, as patients, always see what is going on behind the scenes, and so it's very easy for us to complain - I know that I've done it. But and e is on a constant state of priority - so if you come in via ambulance then you are seen before someone who has come in with a bleeding finger. Also, regarding non emergency - children will get seen faster than adults.

The guy was being and ass,.

mrssparkeles I have also been there, my dd had meningitis last year. Flowers hope you're both ok & your dd is improving.
Mine was only small at the time so I passed a lot of the time in hospital watching comedies on Netflix. A friend who had been through similar recommend that's what I do & it definitely helped. Do you have a tablet/earphones?

Also, make sure you eat. Probably the last thing on your mind but it's draining enough in there so you need the energy. Do they have tea/coffee facilities in your hospital? Ours have a help yourself with a donation tin toward supplies if you can.

Really hope you get home soon & your dd makes a full recovery.

We're home & tired but thankful we have access to all this free care.

I've thought about that man again this morning & lost my compassion again. I know we all express things differently but there were lots of tired, stresses & scared parents there waiting. He done nothing but wind everyone up.
I do hope my comment gave him food for thought. I wasn't being nasty, I really wasn't but it was a true statement.
