hunting that he is going to run in the leadership contest...

What chances does he have?

The idea that Johnson doesn't want this is a fantasy. It needs to be put to bed. He's been organising hard for this. He has Gove and Osborne (apparently) on board. He has the Sun behind him. They assume that he is so charismatic that he can sell shit with a ribbon on it - and will therefore win them a GE. I mean, look at the result of the referendum.

We really do not want Johnson at the helm - of the country or he and his right wing backers negotiating any deal.

He really, really needs to be stopped.

thecatfromjapan · 28/06/2016 09:33

I haven't really followed Jeremy Hunt, to be honest. Is that true about hime trying to reversult?

I really want a strong 'Not-Johsnon" candidate.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 28/06/2016 09:37

Hunt and Corbyn at the respective helms would result in a turnout for each party so low at the next GE as to hand power over to Nicola Sturgeon.

I like it Grin

BessieBraddocksEgg · 28/06/2016 09:42

Surely he is deluded?

acasualobserver · 28/06/2016 10:54

I'm starting to think we need to campaign for PR now.

Nigel Farage as PM then?

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 28/06/2016 10:58

Credible leader?

Jeez TreadSoftly!!! That is one scary picture- oh, and they seem to have misspelled his surname. Shock

Xenophile · 28/06/2016 12:11

Jeremy "not rhyming slang" Hunt for PM?

I think I've entered a parallel universe.

Although, given how much he consistently lied about junior doctors, despite mountains of evidence proving him entirely wrong, we'd at least know that he was a slimy bastard with all the integrity of a dead albatross.

jay55 · 28/06/2016 12:17

itv and bbc would be bankrupt from all the fines for saying cunt before the watershed. We'll all be attaching ourselves to lorries to get into France and dusting off the rubber dinghy to escape.

pinkladyapple · 28/06/2016 12:32

As someone who works in the NHS, I welcome Jeremy Hunt.

It would be much more convenient for me to hate one person (someone who shafted doctors and nurses AND is the prime minister) then two separate people. I could cut down on the amount of voodoo dolls I have.

ElleBellyBeeblebrox · 28/06/2016 12:41

I was about to rage at you Pink until i read the last bit of your post which made me laugh.

AYD2MITalkTalk · 28/06/2016 12:43

No one in their right mind would vote for him, surely?

I live in his constituency. Sadly, I can tell you that they vote for him in droves. His position is unassailable. One of his most successful election campaign issues has been "Save the Royal Surrey" (a large local hospital). Sigh.

Margrethe · 28/06/2016 12:45

I wish David Milliband would come back and lead the Labour Party.

AYD2MITalkTalk · 28/06/2016 12:48

Hunt knows just how to talk to the Tory heartlands. He got 60% of the vote here in South West Surrey at the last general election. Next down the list in my area was the UKIP candidate, who managed to get 10% of the vote.

pinkladyapple · 28/06/2016 12:51

ElleBelly - Grin Have you seen that youtube clip of Jeremy CHunt being awarded dick of the year by the last leg show? They managed to corner him outside a hospital.

I wish David Milliband would come back and lead the Labour Party.

You don't dislike labour that much surely?

Elvesandthepoomaker · 28/06/2016 12:54

Doesn't the recent Junior Doctors' debacle suggest that Hunt is not necessarily the Tories' strongest negotiator?

ElleBellyBeeblebrox · 28/06/2016 12:56

I have, it made my day, as did the compilation of every time a journalist/newsreader accidentally on purpose mispronounced his name Grin

Tanith · 29/06/2016 10:51

"Hunt knows just how to talk to the Tory heartlands. He got 60% of the vote here in South West Surrey at the last general election. Next down the list in my area was the UKIP candidate, who managed to get 10% of the vote."

You forgot to mention that the LibDem candidate had been publicly suspended pending an investigation into Election fraud. So there was no real alternative to Jeremy Hunt.

AYD2MITalkTalk · 29/06/2016 11:06

That's true, Tanith, but no lib dem voter was likely to switch their vote to the Conservative candidate - they were more likely to switch to, say, NHA or Green. And Hunt has increased his share of the vote in every election, starting from the one where he did better than I'm an evil Tory bigot Virginia Bottomley (she actually wasn't so bad, but I can never resist that anagram).

AYD2MITalkTalk · 29/06/2016 11:26

And I believe lib dem voters in this area are highly motivated voters and more likely to switch than to abstain, but that's only a feeling I get from the campaigns etc., which I have no evidence for.

AYD2MITalkTalk · 29/06/2016 11:30

Okay, have looked on Wikipedia and it looks like turnout was slightly lower than in the previous general election (which might possibly indicate lib dem voters abstaining) but higher than the one before that.

Tanith · 29/06/2016 14:49

I think a lot of LibDems did vote for Jeremy - it's UKIP they would never have voted for and they would have wanted to keep them out.

AYD2MITalkTalk · 29/06/2016 14:56

That's a point - I'd forgotten about the hold-your-nose-and-vote-not-UKIP vote. Being realistic, nobody but Hunt (or his successor) is ever going to win South West Surrey, so I'm not sure how much of a factor that would be.

Hunt does do enormously well, though; he's made a safe seat even safer.

Tanith · 29/06/2016 15:10

He does. As a constituency MP, he works hard and he's very good.

Just wish he'd leave the ambitious stuff alone!

I think Mrs. B came rather close for comfort during her last election, mind (love the anagram! However, it better describes her odious husband, imo).
