To think you don't just throw sausages at random dogs in the street?

Walking my dog earlier with the baby in the pram, stopped to change the babys seat position and as we started to walk again the dog wasn't moving and pulling back
I realised she was eating something, now Ddog is a bit of a scav and will eat anything she comes across so I bent down to take whatever it was out of her mouth and said "what are you eating now?"
A man sat in a white van parked on the other side of the road (small residential road so not that far away) shouted to me "it's a sausage love" and waved his sandwich at me - he had thrown her a sausage!
I just kind of went "oh, ok" and left her to it, but as I walked home I just thought - wtf?!

He didn't know if she was on a special diet or anything else, not to mention that Ddog is only little and a sausage is about the size of her head!
Just, who does that? Tiz a bit weird no?

Ha ha my dog would love that if random sausages were thrown at her. It might be a little strange but I don't think it's worth worrying about. He was prob just trying to make the dog happy.

My old boy would have gone home with the sausage-flinger. He was a complete food whore. Even elderly, arthritic and with only one good leg remaining, he'd hoof it across the park like a greyhound out of the traps after the woman in the blue coat who had a pocket full of gravy bones.

The van man is probably a dog owner himself and did it without thinking. I know I've been guilty of offering treats to other dogs in the past and then remembering that I should check with the owner first.

I'd be worried considering the stories I've heard of people poisoning food with all sorts for dogs. So if be pretty annoyed if someone did this without asking.

I was in a local pub once & there were little signs on all the tables "Please do NOT feed the dog - she is fat enough". Fair enough.

It was busy, so DH & I had joined a lone woman at a table. She had an enormous handbag & suddenly produced from it a paper bag contain raw stewing steak & started calling over the portly dog by making little tweeting noises, & then began feeding her with lumps of meat

We were & suddenly the landlord noticed & went absolutely ballistic with her, yelling & shouting & threw her out of the pub

Amazing that she carried raw meat wrapped in paper in her handbag, with the sole intention (presumably) of illicitly feeding the fat pub dog! It was late too, not as if she'd just come from the butcher's & felt sorry for it

Yeah he shouldn't be feeding other people's pets. My dog is 17 and 'people food' gives him sickness and diarrhoea now - probably the salt/fat content or something so it would be annoying if someone just fed him without asking.

I think that man was just trying to spread a bit of canine happiness. Good for him.

Why do people think they can just feed dogs all the time? It's like the constant 'kids don't need feeding all the time' argument - neither do bloody dogs!
