To be disappointed that DH doesn't intend to vote tomorrow?

I know I could just say "Well if you don't want to give your say then you can't complain at the outcome", but seriously?

I don't even care which way he votes really, when it comes down to it. He isn't a racist, homophobic or xenophile. He is kind and generous and a wonderful father. I would imagine if he did vote he would have jusiltifiable reasons to pick in or out

But to just not vote at all?

My DH never used to vote and I hated it. I used to take his postal vote as an extra vote for myself. He does vote now though, he's still not massively politician himbo but he at least votes

VacillatingViolet · 23/06/2016 12:59

If you spoil your ballot you do still get included in turnout, so it isn't entirely useless.

Imagine if you had a turnout of 80%. 22% voted for A, 25% for B, but 33% indicated they didn't want either option.

Surely that's better and more representative than them all staying at home.

What's a little casual electoral fraud, eh? Hmm

i know

Such a pity you can't go back to 1998 and report me Sad

KatieKaboom · 23/06/2016 15:06

What? No. I am not from a reporting culture.

I just think it is ironic that in this thread several people have referred to the UK as a democracy when voter fraud is so easy and (reportedly) rife.

Dontyoulovecalpol · 23/06/2016 16:03

Reportedly rife? Hope you're not basing that on one comment from a stranger on the Internet Wink

KatieKaboom · 23/06/2016 16:40

No, of course I'm not. Confused

I'm just slightly bemused to see you actually boasting about having done it.

Still, each man's ethics are his own.

KatieKaboom · 23/06/2016 16:43

I think you're being obtuse, but postal fraud is a well-documented problem in the UK.

Can't easily provide links on the phone but here's something to start you off.

Apols for derail. Over and out.

pigsDOfly · 23/06/2016 16:51

Well, as far as I could gather from the women working my polling station this morning turnout, certainly in my area, has been very high; they told me they've been very busy - unusually so - most elections no one votes.

Feelings are running very high from both sides and unlike your DH OP, most people, quite rightly, welcome the chance put their cross on that piece of paper and feel they are getting a chance to have their say about the country's future.

I would be very disappointed is members of my family didn't vote, but as you say, he's given up any rights to have a moan about the outcome, whatever happens.

witsender · 23/06/2016 17:47

It's just a giant opinion poll anyway, it isn't even binding.

Dontyoulovecalpol · 23/06/2016 20:12

Why would you need to start me off on anything? How self important and patronising can one person be Hmm

raisedbyguineapigs · 23/06/2016 20:22

eh? How is it not binding? It's a straight instruction to the government to do what the majority want!

Egosumgism · 24/06/2016 04:22

here you go guineapigs
