To mourn for the days when we were a nest of vipers

HoneyDragon · 22/06/2016 18:43

Instead of our current tendency to be more like a barrel full of drunk angry Honeybadgers that have suddenly decided they do give a fuck after all.

OP posts:
FruStefanOla · 22/06/2016 21:14

I was just about to say the same Jeremy!

Never mind the vipers, we are now vultures Grin www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2668257-AIBU-to-be-upset-at-former-nanny?pg=1 - but it's probably a troll though.

BolshierAryaStark · 22/06/2016 21:17

I have helpfully reminded the OP on that thread that we are inded vipers.
It did cross my mind that Honey may have done a quick NC to get us to re-emerge, but then I thought no...

HeffalumpHistory · 22/06/2016 21:23

I know I sound a bitch but it's not as clever as it used to be. Quite often it reminds me of a bunch of fourteen year olds who are outraged about nothing at all.

You've got it right there.

Where's the fun? Or at least everyone needs to stop taking offence at every fucking thing!

The nanny one must be another shite troll

I appreciate I wasn't here in days of old but by fuck is it turning into NetHuns lately Sad

Pettywoman · 22/06/2016 21:29

I agree, it's less fun. I find myself editing my posts so much so as not to give the slightest chance of offence. It makes it hard to be funny or spontaneous.

God, I sound like the PC gorn mad brigade. Am still addicted to MN though.

meowli · 22/06/2016 21:36

I also hate how some posters are like the fucking Candyman and arrive on certain themed threads with alarming fucking predictability.

Is this me, on the underage drinking threads, mrssmith Grin

665TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 22/06/2016 21:37

I don’t miss:
The endless advice to use the search function....
The small bunch of oddly powerful posters who had "followings" and could derail a thread on a whim..
The posters who would pile in fawning if something turned out to be even vaguely funny so they could get their user name in a thread which they would then demand was put in classics because they - something or othered _ themselves laughing
The endless self referencing
..and any post about whose gone - whose here - whose got the best name - carrying on for pages and pages..

Is that Viperous enough ?

665TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 22/06/2016 21:39

oh and clearly this is a dare to see if anyone now will correct my spelling & grammar.

Maybebabybee · 22/06/2016 21:46

I've only been here about a year and some of the things people manage to get hysterical and/or offended about are just Hmm

meowli · 22/06/2016 21:48

I think you mean who's, 655 Grin (lighthearted)

Maybebabybee · 22/06/2016 21:48

Nanny thread has just been deleted.

At least we don't have that finger waggy emoji thing they have on net mums yet.

I mourn for the day when I got a mention on MN Round-up. A proud moment.

Not been here all that long but get pissed off when there's a thread when it's absolutely crystal someone has been an utter cock wand and someone will ALWAYS park up with "oh yes, but he might have had such a genuinely good reason for doing that acting like an utter twat"

GTFOH

NeedACleverNN · 22/06/2016 21:56

Yes why do people say

F**k

Is it like hewhoshallnotbenamed?

A complete taboo word

FruStefanOla · 22/06/2016 21:56

Me too Bo, I think my mention must have been about 3 years ago now - I was as chuffed as hell. It was my one and only mention. I don't think there even is a Round-Up anymore. Or if there is, I seem to have unchecked the box to receive them.

It's like a fucking sixth form sociology tutorial all the sodding time now.

And the 'trigger warnings' ... I think there was a warning about a picture of a spider the other day.

BoGrainger · 22/06/2016 22:00

I thought round-up had stopped when morningpaper gave it up. Maybe I'll try and think of something profound but deeply witty just incase.

I thought they had to be called loofers now, chip?

Sparkletastic · 22/06/2016 22:07

There is still a weekly roundup and it is still ace. I insist on reading it aloud to DH whether he wants me to or not.

HoneyDragon · 22/06/2016 22:09

I still get in the round up

I slightly concerned about Jayho, what if her dc took advantage of her slight inebriation, subdued her with Lego caltrops, locked her in the broom cupboard and are running roughshod with Sharpie pens?

OP posts:
CuntyPotato · 22/06/2016 22:15

YY to not being as clever as it once was. There is a defnite inability to perceive humour in posts without it being flagged lighthearted too. It makes me sad that things have changed so much.

And I've only been around since penis beaker.

jayho · 22/06/2016 22:47

dumbed down

dumbed down!!!!!!!

is there a prize??????
