To think this is too much?

Our school is having their summer fair this week. So far they organising committee have asked for jars, sweets and bottles of drink (wine etc) to run their stalls. I have two DC so have sent in two lots, plus a few extra jars and sweets as they are running low. Now it has been decided they want to make hampers and want donations. As always they haven't got many donations, and I told them I think they are asking for too much. Today DD come home saying the teachers have told them they have to bring in stuff. Am a little annoyed, especially as I will be one of the few helping out all day. AIBU to think they are asking too much? BTW we had a Christmas fair and also have to donate chocolate, wine and hamper stuff then too!

Personally I think it's a bit off for a teacher to tell kids they (or their parents) must do something, that they have no way of enforcing. Especially when some families have already done it.

We had this at our school. At the next meeting I pointed out that parents felt there were too many events (at least one a month) where they were asked to donate. And not everyone could do it everytime.

Last years summer fair was a flop. This year they have reduced the amount they ask for and getting far better responses.
