Hi all,

I'm expecting my first and i'm on a budget, so would like to get some stuff second hand, but I'm not sure what stuff, if any, is best to get new as opposed to pre-used? Other than a mattress!

What kind of things did you or would you buy second hand? Would you buy buggies or car seats or cots or nursery sets etc?

Thanks :)

Car boot sales are fantastic too - and you get to see things, rather than buying online.

Things I wouldn't buy second hand, mattress, car seat unless I know its owner, ie id buy off a friend but not ebay.

If I was bottle feeding I think I might want new tests for the bottles, I'd buy new dummies - not sure who would consider selling used.

Someone mentioned avoiding used buggies because of mould and people cleaning it off before selling. Someone borrowed mine, in hindsight I think they wiped it down before returning it, a few short weeks later I spotted mould on it. Took advice and cleaned it off and let it dry inside. It was then put back in the garage no further issues. I'll have no issues with reusing it.
