To be in a pub on my own?

Daft argument with DP. We had planned to go to the pub but he left the hose stating he was going out.
I decided not to change my plans.
I am sat in a lovely pub garden overlooking the river and feel/felt comfortable on my own. However the looks from otger patrons and concern from the bar staff are making me feel lime i am commiting a masdive crime.
So aibu to want to be sitting in a pub by myself enjoying the day and my own company with out judgement?

Where are you, 1975?

tiredsotiredso · 19/06/2016 16:28

Wish I was joining you or in a pub alone & ignoring the relentless supervisory & caring duties that are expected of me, playing the ill card is not working that well. So I will have a gin & tonic please & some crisps.

It is int it.
The table is actually the concern not me. Damn them.
Glass collector has just given me a head tilt.
Would it be wrong to get a third drink and prolong their table envy?

If you get another drink they will pinch the table!

KittyLaRoux · 19/06/2016 16:43

Noooo coat and fags left on the seat. Thats ownership Grin

Round here theyd pinch the fags, dump the coat, sit at the table and deny all knowledge! Grin

KittyLaRoux · 19/06/2016 16:52

No none of that in these parts.

They just talk about you and pass judgement on your mental health Grin

Very sweet couple have asked me 3 times now if i am ok and waiting for somebody.

They're probably bored shitless with each other and need someone else's "trauma" to create some excitement in their life.... Hmm

I love going around on my own - pubs, cinemas etc. - and love people-watching too.

Trills · 19/06/2016 17:03

"These parts" don't sound like much fun. Are strangers similarly judgmental in other areas of life, or only when a woman is out and about without an escort?

You enjoy your drink and your pub garden!

Scribblegirl · 19/06/2016 17:06

Ah I'd love to be in a pub garden by myself at the moment, the family are getting on my tits and I'm desperate for a smoke, drink and a bucket glass of wine Grin

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 19/06/2016 17:10

I go out all the time and have never once been asked if I'm ok Confused am I doing something wrong?!

Surely if you're just sitting there reading a book or mumsnetting then you just look like you're on your own?

KittyLaRoux · 19/06/2016 17:11

trills i have had many a great night in this pub.....as a couple. It appears as a single you are judged. I am a little dissapointed.

Maybe i can start a new trend?

Also i think nice couple and their friends maybe swingers. Grin

I think you may havery inadvertently wandered into "The Slaughtered Lamb". Or a local pub for local people.

EduCated · 19/06/2016 17:15

This is hilarious. Start winking at them every so often.

Janey50 · 19/06/2016 17:21

Beat me to it DangerousBeanz! I was just going to say 'Is it a LOCAL pub for LOCAL people?' I have walked into a few of those in my time and walked straight out again.

TooGood2BeFalse · 19/06/2016 17:23

I was going to say swingers...

Honestly OP, that sounds wonderful, make the most of it and have a lovely time!
