I have spent hours organising all my photos into Folders and thought it would make a great Fathers Day present to upload them onto the laptop that I bought him for Christmas. The photos are from our kids birth to date. However, he has put a password on and I now cant upload the pics for his FD surprise! AIBU to feel annoyed about this? He hasnt told me he has done this and I now feel that he doesnt trust me or is he hiding stuff from me?

what we call a 'laptop' in our house is actually a Chromebook, with less storage capacity than my phone

Surely it's a big jump to assume that is the case for the OP.

When I got my laptop (Windows 8.1 at the time) it needed a password to set it up. It now has Windows 10 and still the password.

OP, are you absolutely sure that this idea is the perfect Fathers' Day gift you seem to think? Laptops and other devices are very personal items to many people, and I certainly wouldn't appreciate someone uploading loads of photos onto mine unbidden. They seem to slow it down hugely for a start, so as I upload any I almost always have to move them straight onto my Onedrive account.

A safer option might perhaps have been to buy a digital photo frame and upload them onto that.

Having a password is the default, you have to turn it off manually and its hidden waaaaaay deep in the settings!

(I have Windows 10 but the password is off)
