To take my kids away for a few days

I'm in a bad spot at the minute, the only thing that will help now it's got to this point is to take my two kids (3yr and 4mth) and get out of town just for a week. 3yr old isn't in proper school so she will only miss a couple of days nursery.

AIBU to just dissappear for a short while? I've never done it before but I don't have any family/friends I could rely on and I need away from my house (not drip feeding I don't want to disclose the issue).

Has anyone ever done this did it make you feel worse/better than you thought it would?

I'm thinking like a holiday resort or campsite of some kind but I don't have much money, are there any family holiday places that aren't very expensive? Sorry for the vague post as sad as it sounds I literally don't have anyone else to ask these things

I don't understand what's stopping you? If you want a break, just go.

What about a youth hostel? They have great big communal kitchens, a nice lounge area and not too expensive. Would be easier than a Travelodge or hotel. Really geared towards families. Which part of the UK are you in?
A few days away would definitely cheer me up.

Would the children settle to sleep, in a strange place?

Are you BF, or will there be all the bottle feeding stuff to take?

I understand that you might not want to disclose the issue, but it might be better to brave it out and find a more workable long term solution.

You could book into a caravan park cheaply, while schools are in session they cost less.

I have done it, twice actually, I felt so much better for getting away and my kids had a great time, we stayed on a caravan holiday park, booked last minute, packed and jumped in the car, I say go, relax and have a nice break.

Absolutely go. If you're in the uk, try Pontins. Great for kids. It's a bit rough round the edges but is cheap and lots to do if it's bad weather. Try group on for cheap deals or Pontins' website. Or I think uk breakaways do cheap half board Pontins deals if you don't want to cook. X

Just go for it. You've nothing to lose, except ur sanity if u don't get out. What about a static caravan? It's got the same facilities as being at home and are very convenient.

I had a situation where two family members (we are NC) tried to force their way into my home while DC2 (4 years old at the time) and I were there alone.

We did a flit, just hoofed it to a hotel. Three months later we moved house, best decision ever.

Assuming that the father of the children is in the picture it may be more difficult; as he could report you missing or that you have abducted the children. Also there could be issues if there are any court orders in place or any arranged appointments with agencies (I appreciate you don't wish to divulge the full circumstances).

If neither of these is an issue then definitely take some time out if that is what you need.

We got a last minute term time Monday- Friday holiday to butlins for £240 for a family of 4. Kids loved it and all entertainment and food included. Get away if you want to and can. Sometimes a break away makes things seem better.

If your anywhere near Yorkshire Horton Womens Holiday Centre is the cheapest get away for the least hassle Ive ever come across.
They have a playroom with loads of toys and can lend equipment like cots, baby carrier, kids wellies and waterproofs at no cost.
Everythings a bit scruffy and food is self catering in a communal kitchen so its a bit different.
But, if you dont mind that- its a great, zero hassle bolt hole.
