To ask for help with a ski wedding

Just posting here for traffic.

My boyfriend and I are getting married and really like the idea of a ski wedding. There will be both skiers and non-skiers on the guest list and I wondered if the collective wisdom of mn could give me any advice or tips.

Thanks in advance :-)

We can afford one holiday a year with the kids. I would not sacrifice that to attend anyone's wedding.

Have the wedding you want, but don't kid yourself it's cheaper, because actually, the guests are picking up the slack. Also, brace yourself for missing people dear to you who can't or won't come. Sometimes the wedding you see happening in your head doesn't translate into real life.

God, I sound miserable, don't I! I don't mean to.

Have a great wedding and congratulations. I do mean that, even if I sound all doomy and gloomy.

Hi all!
Thanks for the advice! We've decided that we need to pick up the tab for guests accommodation for the week and for at least some dinners, other than the wedding breakfast. And all the actual breakfasts!
I've had a good look at zell am see but think we're leaning towards hiring a big chalet for everyone and there seems to be more choice round st anton. Not sure why?

Think it's a great idea but, I'm a skier. Non skiers might just see expense here though & not be arsed with it all

Check with your family and close friends that they are ok with it. And give at least a year's notice.

It's generous of you to meet most of the costs, but bear in mind you'll be requiring their annual leave too.

If me and dh got invited to a ski wedding we would go as long as baby ds was invited. I've only been skiing a few times but can't say I'm good, although I did have lots of fun.

Yes it will be expensive for guests but you are being generous paying for accommadion and some meals. I assume you know if your family & friends will be able to afford flights etc.
Yes you will get people that aren't able to get time off work but you could always have a party on your return that's what me & DH did from our abroad wedding.

Can't you just have a ski honeymoon? Even if people can afford it, they probably won't want to use up annual leave for your wedding. I think you need to decide what is more important to you as a couple. Having the people you really want there to share it with you, or having it abroad. Any destination wedding runs the risk of excluding certain people.
