As tge title says.
Ds is Autistic.
Hes 11.

His school have requested extra funding as they are struggling to met his needs.

Without the funfing his placement will cease in July.

I'm desperately looking for another school but no luck so far.

Can you imagine 'normal' dc being treated like this?

But those children weren't left without an educational provision, which is what will happen to the OP's child if the LA turn down the funding request.
I grew up and still live in a grammar area. My DS2 will have to get the pass mark required for out of area applicants despite living in deepest, darkest Essex because when a distance rule was introduced it cut us coastal yokels off. Is this fair? Not really. Is this the same as the OP's child being removed from a school he is already in with no alternative option? Of course not.

LyndaNotLinda · 17/06/2016 17:30

Oh. That's who userxxx is

Actually nowadays, you can do reasonably well in life without passing the 11+, even if you live in an 11+ area. I know someone who chose not to take the exam, got a 2:1 from York and is now on a highly-paid graduate management scheme.

Anyway, this is not about the difference between a good school and a less good school. It's about education vs no education.

Lonnysera · 17/06/2016 17:34

Even if you fail the 11+ you still have a school place, the chance of an education. This kid doesn't.

User can you see that this is different and your attempting to draw a parallel is badly judged?

hazeyjane · 17/06/2016 17:35

Userblabla - the difference being that if you don't/didn't get into grammar school there are perfectly good alternative schools - for many children with special needs they are left with no school options or schools that are woefully unable to meet their needs.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/06/2016 17:38

User I don't know if you are quoting someone when you said "normal" kids for kids without SN but it would be so nice if you didn't use that word

bialystockandbloom · 17/06/2016 17:40

Seriously user why the fuck are you on these threads? You seem to show nothing but scorn and spite and disdain for children with SEN and their families, and it appears you have no professional or personal interest in this so why are you here? You don't genuinely think for one solitary second that this is in any way comparable to the 11+ process.

These are real people. Show some fucking compassion, and take your goading elsewhere.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/06/2016 17:40

Or rather if noone used that word.

FrayedHem · 17/06/2016 17:41

Fanjo that was quoted from the OP

PeppasNanna · 17/06/2016 17:42

Normally i would respond to someone like user but today I really cant be arsed but i will say this & then I'm going to ignore you.

My son won't have any secondary school to go to in September. Not even a comprehensive school. They won't even let him go to comprehensive school.

Hes very likely to end up at our local PRU. Where the kids regularly stab each other & smoke weed outside whilst chatting to tbe WPC...
The LEA put him there when he was 6. He was so stressed he pulled all his nails off.

Getting the gist user? Angry

Ah ok, I wasn't sure, am tired.

Hate it though.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/06/2016 17:43

Sorry you are having this issue though OP Flowers

Lonnysera · 17/06/2016 17:43

Oh PeppasNana that's terrible.Sad

bialystockandbloom · 17/06/2016 17:45

OP have you spoken to IPSEA?

PeppasNanna · 17/06/2016 17:45

I used the term 'normal'.
Normally I use the term NT but as I presumed many people wouldn't be aware of the term, I chose to use normal to describe the majority.

OP posts:
fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/06/2016 17:47

Really hate it, but anyway the main issue is the school. I hope you resolve it.

PeppasNanna · 17/06/2016 17:48

IPSEA are brilliant but the reality is searching for yet another school possibility of tribunals etc.

Its a fairly unusual position as few Independent AS schools would dtruggle to cope but ds is very complex & very challenging.

OP posts:
moosemama · 17/06/2016 17:51

I would definitely approach SOS SEN and IPSEA to see if they can come up with anything that might help. IPSEA were brilliant when our LA was messing us about re ds' statement.

moosemama · 17/06/2016 17:52

Cross posted.

I wish I could think of something else to suggest that might help. Sad

FrayedHem · 17/06/2016 17:59

It's the waiting isn't it. You can't really do anything until the decision has been made. Have you been given any indication of when the panel are due to meet?

PeppasNanna · 17/06/2016 18:00

I will email IPSEA. You never know they might have a suggestion how to manage the situation in a more positive way.

OP posts:
BishopBrennansArse · 17/06/2016 18:14

Solomon if that's the case then it's a PBP and should get another ban

bialystockandbloom · 17/06/2016 18:25

When's the panel meeting?

Yes you may be looking at appeal Sad But you clearly have an extremely strong case, they must provide suitable education provision. It'll also help that school are not saying they can't meet his needs at all, just that they need a bit of extra funding to do so. £15k is not extortionate.

Sorry if I missed it but is this secondary school?

bialystockandbloom · 17/06/2016 18:28

Sorry have re-read and seen that it is secondary.

WhatALoadOfWankers · 17/06/2016 18:37

My heart goes out to you
May I just add that user example is shit

DawnMumsnet · 17/06/2016 18:55

@BishopBrennansArse

Solomon if that's the case then it's a PBP and should get another ban

Just letting you know that we've been checking things out behind the scenes and can confirm that the cunningly-name user1464519881 is indeed a previously banned poster and has now been escorted from the premises.

We've removed her posts which we agree appear to be a deliberate attempt to derail the thread.

Our Tech team are working on a fix to this annoying random username problem, by the way - we'll be posting in Site Stuff about this soon.

Many thanks for all the reports.
