Husband up to no good? Caught out by fitbit

Morning. My dh wore my fitbit last night to walk the dog, so he had something to tell the time by. He was out for an hour.

When he got back I looked at the stats on my phone and it had tracked a 15 minute walk and about 3-4k steps. I asked him about it and he couldn't explain the discrepancy, except that maybe it didn't pick up his steps because he was holding the lead.

This morning I took the dog out and my fitbit tracked a 29 minute walk and just over 3k steps. I held the lead on my fitbit hand.

I don't know what to think, so confused. Does the fitbit lie? AIBU to think dh is the one who's lying?

Or met another dog walker and stood chatting?

Yes if he's anything like my DH who talks to everyone he passes. Poor dog ends up sitting there for ages and only gets about a 10 minute walk but is gone for an hour.

I've had many fitbits and yes they can often misrecord steps etc. But even my faulty ones never missed chunks of time out unless they'd totally died. Having said that would your DH be the type to sit on a park bench and let the dog run rather than actually walk with it?

The route I walk my dog is about 3 km. I hold the lead in my fitbit hand and it has occasionally registered as few as 200 steps.

I am glad you are not my spouse - the level of mistrust you are showing based upon a piece of fad based technology (which is known to be woefully inaccurate) would have me showing you the door.

What type of a fitbit is it? Is it set up for you? What times are your Auto Recognized Activities set up for?

I had to stay in on Wednesday waiting for deliveries and managed over 12,000 steps as I did lots of short bursts of running on spot and over exercises. Due to my auto settings it logged no Exercises (including walking) or Active Minutes.

Currently I am up to 9,982 and have over 70 mins walk and 15 mins Aerobic workout auto logged as Exercise.
