AIBU about a 6 grand cruise?

Spent all yesterday and today looking for holidays and have found one with P&O cruises. 8 nights around the Caribbean, in a suite which apparently has butler service! Plus all the other cool things such as kids club and night time nursery for my 3 year old.
Also get £550 to spend on board.

We haven't been on holiday for nearly 4 years, am I being unreasonable to want a 6k holiday? even if it's just 8 nights? I probably am aren't I :/

Hi - both cruises we've done we got a Deluxe Ocean View Family Stateroom (3 of us in there). That helps keep the cost down compared to the verandah rooms. We only spent 'down time' in the room so didn't feel the need for outside space (the Deluxe Ocean View's have a lot of space and huge porthole so don't feel claustrophobic). The main perks for concierge seem to be around priority booking for things but unless you want a Cabana at Castaway Cay we've always managed to book what we wanted including dinners at Palo and Remy. You do get the private lounge and drinks/nibble parties etc I think but it's not like there isn't vast amounts of good quality food and drink elsewhere on the ship. That's not to say I wouldn't ever do concierge as if finances permitted it would be amazing I'm sure but the overall standards and quality are so high on DCL that you get a fabulous experience even in the other rooms.

I value luxury and great customer service very highly - I would always go for the 7 week luxury holiday over a 14 night one at somewhere less luxurious for example and to be honest DCL customer service is so great you're not a second class guest at all if you're not concierge. The stateroom attendants are incredibly good for all rooms and you get to know them well and it feels like the personal touch even outside of concierge.

I have been on several cruises and I find them a bit odd - the children loved them! Full of Americans and not luxurious at all compared with a decent hotel and there are loads of them in the Caribbean. Lots have childcare if you need it. They also have the sea, beaches and decent sized pools. No exorbitant shore excursions and hidden bills. Or queuing to get off the ship. You could also hire a car and explore a bit. For £6000 you could look at a really good hotel or hire a villa. When my children could swim we hired a yacht in the BVIs. Far better than a cruise. P and O are mass market and pretty average. You can do a lot better than this.
