Parking wars... Of a kind

I hate getting uppity about parking, but I do, so I am interested in your thoughts on our situation.

We live in a village, our house has a small slim driveway that you might get a smart car on, we don't have a smart car so have to park on the street out the front. We do however have a drop kerb to our tiny driveway. This may or may not be relevant but it's why I'm getting agitated about it more at the moment, but I am very almost about to have my 3rd baby (2weeks until due date) so parking near to my house is handy with a 5year old and 2year old in tow. We have lovely (young) neighbours who for the last two days have parked across my driveway (where I normally park) resulting in me having to park across the road a few hundred yards up, again no issue with no children or shopping bags. It just seems a bit inconsiderate of them. Am I ok to go around (or send husband) and say come on guys that's my spot spare a thought for my fat feet? Or is it a fair game spot because I usually park there?

Buying new cars and mopeds? What is this nonsense?

OP, just go round and explain the situation to the neighbours. If they are lovely they will understand. I'm sure they haven't done it intentionally to put you out.

It'll be a good few hundred quid cheaper than buying a dummy car or somehow miraculously widening your drive Hmm

If their house is the boundary to the driveway on one side, can you widen it on the other?

No Augusta the other side is our house

Could you park on you driveway, with your nose on the road? Would the car be standing more proud of the curb than it would be if you parked fully on the road? So back of car on drive, nose on the road, parked at 90 degrees to how you would park if you were just on the road? Do you understand what i mean? Ot have i misunderstood your drive?

If you could do this, you would be right by your house, preventing others from parking there and setting a precedent that your driveway is used.

Could you maybe approach it from a "don't wanna seem like the weirdo from next door but would you mind leaving our drive clear please as baby is due soon and would be handy to be able to park close to the door sue to other kids"

If they are generally lovely they will understand

PovertyPain · 11/06/2016 10:11

But, would that not mean that she's parking OVER the footpath, Janek? Or have I misunderstood your post?

Janek · 11/06/2016 11:06

Oh yeah Blush, that's not allowed, is it?!?
