I turned 40 recently and My hair is not as nice as it used to be. I am worried that my parting is getting wider. What do you think? If you are 40 or above, would you send me a photo of your hair parting?

I am not sleeping and going crazy about this.

Thanks

At fort my long hair became very thin. I am quite grey at the front and had been dying it for years.
when I put it in a ponytail, my then corkscrew curls made a pathetic thin bunch.
I had it cut off into a choppy bob which really suited me.
Since then it has thickened up; it was incredibly thick before I had my last minute dot com. baby.
Have you had a baby in the last couple of years OP?

I have full blown alopecia universalis (no hair anywhere on my whole body) It started off as bald patches at the back of my head at the bottom of my hair.

There's a thing on the side bar for the blog of the day titled 'should I go bankrupt'. The model for that has lovely hair OP and as far as I can see her parting is not dissimilar to yours.

I think your hair looks fine.

Yours too ApocalypseSlough

No, I have two children, 12 and 10 so quite some time ago. I had no hair loss post pregnancy, I bounced back into shape within months (not dieting, I just lost the 60 pounds I gained) and I am generally quite healthy.

But maybe I should have a different cut. I have never had short hair in my life, would need a hairdresser who is really good. I normally have a trim every 2-3 months at those cheap places, why spend a lot for a 1 inch trim ?

I'm sure my hairline is receding! Your parting looks normal to me.

Squashybanana · 08/06/2016 20:17

I'm almost 46. Yours looks fine to me. I am getting a moustache...

Squashy, your parting looks so good. And mrswishy, have you tried taking some vitamins etc? Every time I take a vitamin, I think I am putting good stuff in me.

I have also learnt the following: don't brush your hair when wet, don't use hairdryers. I did the Philip Kingsley programme for 6 weeks but it involved washing hair every day. To be honest, my hair did look better then but it was a massive pain. I just can't afford to spend so much money on unproven stuff so I will just wait and see what happens.

Popping back to say - I was in a meeting at work yesterday, 6 women aged about 40 to 60. 4 of us had some degree of thinning to the crown. It's so common, but I think you don't really see it until it's bothering you personally.
