So you're boasting that you're not following the pack (and missing out on a stonkingly fabulous show) by sharing a crappy pic on Facebook

So flaming what if you haven't watched it.. What's your point??

(ducks and gets ready for the YABU s)

I don't think it's boasting either, just maybe bemusement about being left out on the joke with the 439873459348 GoT FB memes that pop up after each episode.

But if you could explain why you think it's boasting again, but this time with a pouting, naked-from-the-waist up woman standing idly behind you that'd make it clearer, maybe?

wasonthelist · 07/06/2016 20:57

Yeah I get a bit tired of people going on about GoT all the time and getting judged when I say I don't watch it because I tried it out and didn't like it.

^Me too. Shared a flat with a bloke (this is 3/4 years ago at least) who pirated it. He was convinced that if I watched a few episodes I'd be hooked. He patiently (and beyond the call of duty) explained who everyone was and what was going on but it just left me cold. Then again, I don't really "do" fantasy and Sci Fi stuff - no Potter, Star Wars and definitely no Tolkein, thanks. I also "failed" at Friends - thought it was utter shite.

BreadSnakeFridayDog · 07/06/2016 20:58

I didn't see it as a boast, just a sort of lighthearted (sorry) statement that they must be unusual because everyone else seems to watch it. I don't think it's supposed to be a serious mathematical percentage either, just hyperbole.

My newsfeed is pretty full of GOT when you include people's statuses about it, articles about the show, articles about the actors in the show, daft "which GOT character are you most likely to fall in love with" etc. I don't watch it (not a boast) but from everything I've seen on my fb I could name a fair few characters!

ThatsMyStapler · 07/06/2016 21:10

is that what you need to be able to understand, Rupert? a half naked woman meme? there is more to game of thrones than naked women, but i'm not here to evangelise about it, watch it if you want to, or dont watch it, i dont care. I just think its funny

I dont post memes about not watching Coronation St, or listening to the Archers, maybe I should try that

I was referring to the GoT practice of "sexplaining". (and yes, I have watched it!)

MrsJoeyMaynard · 07/06/2016 21:27

Meh.

I have no interest in whether or not someone watches Game of Thrones.

And I don't really understand why someone who doesn't want to watch Game of Thrones would care about advertising the fact on Facebook.

NotYoda · 07/06/2016 22:13

I don't know what a meme is

And I can't be arsed to find out

I am old

AgingJuvenileBinkyHuckaback · 07/06/2016 22:23

It's "sexposition" Rupert. Rife in season 1, fortunately slightly less prevalent nowadays.

MrsJayy · 07/06/2016 22:29

Its just a im not a sheep kinda thing nothing to get worked up about Dd1 was watching last night i was bugging her by asking whos that what they doing now oh boobies Grin ive never seen it either

KoalaDownUnder · 07/06/2016 22:30

Yeah, that's daft. And I've never watched GOT either, but I wouldn't brag about it. Confused

I reserve my real irritation for smart-arses who say they 'don't have a tv', but stream endless shite through the Internet. Including Apple iView, or whatever it's called.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 07/06/2016 22:34

...Why is this even an aibu? It's a flippin joke! God, some people take daft Facebook shit so seriously on here... Confused
