Should I take my daughter to see gp?

I have posted this on here purely because I was not sure where else to post for advice. I apologise if TMI but DD is DC2 and only daughter.

DD is 7.5 when we got ready for bed tonight I noticed that she has a yellowish crusty discharge in her pants (sorry - tmi!). She says she's been wiping properly and she acted out for me so it's not that. She's not sore or itchy, and she has no pain while weeing.

Before anyone points abuse, this is definitely not occurring. DD has known about no pants rule since she was about three plus she tells us quite openly if she has been picked on etc. So it's certainly not that.

Any ideas? Surely this can not be the onset of puberty already? TIA!

I wouldn't go to the GP for this. It sounds normal. No itching or smell, no problem.

So if its confirmed as puberty.. all is well. If its related to a UTI or PID, (which can present very few symptoms in early stages, then it can be treated before it gets worse. Either way, it makes sense for me to visit the GP.

My undiagnosed for too long PID is the reason I was unable to conceive. It is very very rare in children. But sadly it did long term damage. :(

The GP said it was due to hormones and gave her some canesten stuff.

aristotle- why would the GP give her canesten for hormonal issues?

DD nearly 9 now had exactly the same thing about 18months ago - no smell, just discharge, no,pain on seeing etc etc.

We eventually worked out it was a sensitivity to the bubble bath we were using ( some badedas I had been given for Christmas). With hindsight probably was a bit strong/ perfumed for a child. I bought some Johnsons baby bath for her and that's what she always uses now - no problems ever since .

Weeing not seeing obviously.... Bloody autocorrect!

AristotleTheGreat · 06/06/2016 20:07

Not sure. As I said it wasn't my dd!
I think the idea was that as her dd was getting closer to puberty, her body was starting to work like the one of a woman rather than a girl so she was more likely to get thrush.
However, don't quote me of that.

If it's a small amount and no other symptoms I'd say it's normal?
