To want my money back after wasting it on a 2nd hand Maclaren?

A few days ago I bought a Maclaren buggy for £40 from a popular ad site. The harness straps at the back were only held up by Velcro so whe I put DD in and she leaned forward, the straps would become loose putting her life in danger. The woman that I bought the buggy from didn't show me this and I couldn't go back on the same day as I had to be somewhere. I feel like I've been sold a faulty item and feel like a fool. I'm pretty skint right now so I can't just go out and buy another buggy. I've texted her today but I've had no reply. Aibu to try and get my money back by turning up at her house?

You seriously think this pram risks your child's life but you'll sell it on? Aren't you lovely.

weeblueberry · 05/06/2016 09:02

Maybe someone sold it to her that way and she had the same attitude as you of 'I don't really mind what happens to someone else's kid' Hmm

MaltyCocoa · 05/06/2016 09:06

Wow you'd sell it even though you think it's faulty??

Lovely op. Charming attitude Shock

Silvercatowner · 05/06/2016 09:07

Perhaps the woman you bought it from is selling it on because she identified exactly the same faults.

JennyBunn · 05/06/2016 09:08

So if you're going to sell it on, will you be pointing out the faults to the buyer or will you just put their child's 'life in danger'?

You sound like a real treat.

In the time you've spent on MN you could have threaded the straps through and cleaned the brakes. Give it a try.

ThePinkOcelot · 05/06/2016 09:13

Wow!! You would happily sell it on to someone else?! Really?!!

MagicalMrsMistoffelees · 05/06/2016 09:14

Why should you not sell it if it was sold to you?! Are you serious?

Because you've identified it as a cause of endangering life maybe? Because the breaks don't work?

MagicalMrsMistoffelees · 05/06/2016 09:14

Agh! BRAKES!!!

You need to put the straps through the back plastic structure. Oh and just make sure you are getting both sides of the brakes down

LunaLoveg00d · 05/06/2016 09:21

Life in danger is a complete overreaction.

Get on youtube, search for the model and check the straps are hooked up properly.

And it's BRAKES.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 05/06/2016 09:36

It sounds rectifiable. Look on the net, sew the straps if need be, or listen to Dizzyfucker who could probably set up an online Maclaren trouble shooting service Grin

londonrach · 05/06/2016 09:44

Abit surprised a mum would resell on something they view as dangerous to another mum. No advice op apart from follow dizzy advice on straps and brakes.

icelollycraving · 05/06/2016 09:49

Buyers remorse is one thing but wanting to sell on something you think is faulty to someone else? Yabu.
