I'm not a great passenger as I've had a vehicle slam into my door 3 times but driving with my son still makes me feel he's not ready.
Clearly the examiners have felt so too, but I just think he's never going to be a comfortable driver. I lost 2 friends when I was young who were racing; but I think my son will be more dangerous as a plodder.
Now my iPhone's gone weird

it is not about you

Yes sure the op knows that people.

Op like you we thought our dd had been killed and the hours of not knowing have had a profound affect on my life. I too am fearful of my kids dying. I too hate them driving, going on holiday etc but am getting help.

I think k you need help too for your anxiety. This isn't about your sons driving. Flowers

Yes sure the op knows that people.

OP has specifically said it is about her. Hmm

I think you need to get some help for your anxieties.

He's 18, he's an adult. He's the one who needs to keep himself safe. Is he at/going to uni? How are you going to cope with that?

Both (19&21) our DSes can drive, both live away from home. Sometimes driving is the least of my worries tbh.

Can you persuade him to use the green P plates for a while after passing?

My little brother uses them, and he's been passed over six months. I also helped him buy a sensible car.

I get the over protective thing. I worry about my DB too (our mum died at Christmas so he doesn't have anyone to look after him apart from me!)
