My amazing, beautiful little DS has just counted to 4!!! He has been completely non-verbal up until this point, is going through an ASD diagnosis as well as an Auditory Processing Disorder Assessment.
But he's always found counting to be really funny! And me and DH have just watched him count four straws, and put them in their cups GrinGrin
I can't believe it! I'm so proud of my little man! Grin

That's amazing! Well done to your gorgeous boy.

EricaPrimrose · 01/06/2016 19:43

Me and DH both sobbed! And managed to get a little bit of it on video! We put it on Facebook, and the staff at his nursery are all congratulating him too Grin
He doesn't know he's a little celebrity at the minute! He's just eating his fish cakes like nothing has happened hahaha
Thank you all so much, so amazing to be able to 'brag' to such lovely people Flowers

Fantastic - well done mini-primrose. That's definitely worth a full on shout it from the rooftops boast.

Fantastic! Well done little man!

Oh lovely my ds who has autism first words were 1,2,3 courtesy of the teletubbies. His second word was triangle Hmm. He learned to speak "normally" at seven against all predictions and he's 21 now. There have been some tough times but milestones like you have experienced today are what keeps you going so enjoy Smile Keep a record too so when your lovely boy is 21 you too can look back and be amazed at how far he's come.

DixieNormas He does love his TV! He loves browsing through YouTube on his iPad (with parental locks on!) he loves watching all the counting and alphabet videos!
We found he liked counting, when we tried to use it as a warning a few months back (as in, 'Come here please....1....2...' Etc) he just burst out laughing at me! So since then we've just counted everything, and it seems to have stuck! Grin

Cartching He loves that bit of the Teletubbies! Will often replay it over and over on his iPad! (How he learned to do that, I have no idea Hmm)

Anyone else's 2/3 year old an absolute whiz on the iPad? After a few times showing him how to do it, he can now change between apps, his favourite games, and choose his favourite YouTube shows! Constantly amazes me!

Awww that's fantastic Star

My DS (now 11) with ASD and possibly apd didn't say much at 2 (light, look and mum!) he learnt to count as one of his earliest skills too because it's was a pattern he could copy. He was quite verbal by 3 vocab wise but yet still struggles with language. His maths however is amazing. I think the rules and patterns and logic appeal to the autistic mind!

He's absolutely gorgeous too btw Grin

MrsKCastle · 01/06/2016 21:08

What a little star! Brag away, it's lovely to hear about those special moments.

MyAmDeryCross · 01/06/2016 21:12

Not at all. Clever little guy and gorgeous too.

MrsGW · 02/06/2016 00:05

YANBU, he is also super cute Smile

Scoose · 02/06/2016 00:20

That is wonderful he is a little Star! My dd is nearly six and has asd and sensory processing disorder she is relatively non verbal but had always loved numbers and counting and is a whiz at maths she counts 1-10 every night when she's going to sleep and likes to use silly voices Grin
