To take DD to the doctors for bad breath?

Not sure where's best to post this. DD is 2 yo almost 3 and has had bad breath for weeks! Oral hygiene is great her teeth are brushed 2-3 times a day and are beautiful. She drinks plenty of water all day and still her breath is rancid. I can't hardly bear her breathing in my face and I know others must smell it and think her teeth are neglected! WIBU to take her to the doctors for this? Our dentist wouldn't see her for months unless it's an emergency so that's not an option. And I don't think her teeth are the issue anyway ConfusedConfusedConfused

she has tonsil stones, look with a small torch at the back of her mouth if you see a yellow/cream coloured ball on her tonsils its stones.
They are vile, i get them aswell, desperate to get my tonsils out its the only way to truly remove them

A friend of mine had this with her 4 year old. Ended up being a tiny bit of silver foil stuck up the nose - had to have a small op to have it taken out IIRC. I would definitely get it checked out - this was in no way visible to the naked eye and wasn't causing any discomfort.

I'd take her to the GP. Bad breath can sometimes be the 1st sign of tonsillitis. Can also point to other illnesses such as diabetes or gastric problems. Does she have a history of reflux?

Hoping it resolves soon OP x

Sorry to hijack the thread! However if you have children with tonsil stones how do you get them out?!??

mizuzu · 01/06/2016 16:58

Doctor can refer to have them taken out. Get them removed now because as an adult doctors are reluctant to remove tonsil's, I have to pay for the removal myself. It is worth it though. Tonsil stones are the work of the devil.

RandyMagnum · 01/06/2016 17:29

RememberToSmile1980 whenever I get them myself, pretty rare now, I just push around them with a cotton bud until they work there way out, when I first went to the doctors with one he just pushed it out with a tounge depressor.

I was meant to have my tonsils out because of tonsil stones this January but was pregnant so I'm now on a waiting list for after I've delivered. They were the first thing I looked for, I couldn't see any but I know they are crafty horrible things. Really hope the poor cow doesn't have them Sad

I remember the first time I got them - I didn't know what they were! They are horrible little stinky balls!

StarryIllusion · 01/06/2016 20:22

What is she eating op? And do you floss her teeth as well as brush them? If she has gaps between them and food is getting stuck then her breath will stink despite her teeth being healthy.

Believeitornot · 01/06/2016 20:23

She might have big tonsils - so worth having it checked out.

Believeitornot · 01/06/2016 20:24

You called your dd a poor cow am a bit Hmm at that term of affection!!!!

Beeziekn33ze · 01/06/2016 20:25

Taught a 4 year old boy who children wouldn't sit by because of his smell, no problem once doctor removed piece of crayon from his nose.

mamacien · 01/06/2016 21:01

starryilusion She has an electric toothbrush and that's the best I can do Confused there's no way she would tolerate having her teeth flossed just yet! And beleiveitornot that's always been a normal thing to call someone when youre feeling sorry for them where I'm from Smile I'm not insulting my child...

Lol poor fucker is the norm in this family. Cow, bastard, sod, anything goes as long as they don't hear it to repeat in front of nanny. (Who also says it! Hypocrite.)
