... to ask where you get your motivation to clean!?

It's before 9am on a bank holiday monday. I've been up for an hour as I wanted to get the housework done early and have the rest of the day free.

So far I've opened the back door, watched an episode of NCIS and had a crumpet for breakfast. We have friends coming over for dinner at 2 and I need to get dressed, clean my house, go food shopping and cook a roast.

AIBU to ask you to give me a kick up the backside....!?

Little and often. I hate my house being messy.

I don't

Switch off telly.
Clean the kitchen sink. Easy and satisfying
Put Hoover round downstairs. Close all other doors.
Check loo.
Ditto litter trays
You should now be feeling fired up enough to have shower, get dressed.
Plump up cushions
You're on a roll now.
Shop
Large glass wine
Cook.

Realise too late to be any use for o p - just some tips!

I love a nice clean and tidy home and can't relax in a mess/ knowing there are jobs to be done. So that's enough motivation for me!

I can't relax in mess or clutter

I have a cleaner and gardener

DH and I work full time and tbh I cannot be bothered to spend my weekends doing chores in the house or garden.

I do find that having a cleaner generally makes you keep the house tidy on a day to day basis so it can be cleaned.

I spent years working 4 days a week and using my "day off" doing all the household chores before I came to the conclusion that it was just a waste of time and money given the cost of buying these services vs what I earn. That was 6 years ago and wish I'd done it sooner.

Readytorage - how the hell do you get someone for £20 pw!!!! I can't get anyone (good) for less than £25 per hour!!

I get my motivation to clean by using it to avoid more important tasks! I think of all the revision I should be doing for my fast approaching exams and suddenly scrubbing the toilets and polishing every skirting board in the house requires my immediate attention :)
