To think the doctors don't really know what it is?

My 18 month old has a pea sized lump on her left shin. It moves about and doesn't seem to hurt her. Took her to the GP two weeks ago and after a second opinion they decided between them probably nothing but bring her back in two weeks. It was still there so I took her back yesterday and again I've been told nothing to worry about, no rush - but referred to paediatrician for a diagnosis.

I resent that they're making me out to be a complete worrier to my face, when they can't tell me what it actually is. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Sounds like a ganglion, they are v rare in kids but can happen and are harmless

I had one of these on my knuckle and it went away eventually

They are taking your concerns into account because they have referred to a specialist. Hopefully they can put your mind at rest.
Doctors aren't always able to tell what everything is and they have done the right thing in referring to someone who might know. Waiting is horrible I know, but try not to panic

Yep sounds like a ganglion cyst to me too. I've got one on the back of my hand. It's never bothered me

I don't think they're making you out to be a worrier at all! No doctor will say 'omg that's awful that's horrific' as just causes panic. My mum went with a mole and was told 'nothing to worry about but we'll send you to a specialist' it was cancer but there's no point making someone worry themselves sick over something that is most probably harmless.

Probably a ganglion. Hit it with a book and see if it goes away.

It is absolutely harmless.

If you are overly worried about it, and the medical professionals have said that it is not concerning, this might be more about your health anxiety than your DD's lump.

As hard as it is to accept when you are worried about something "abnormal" with your child, medical professionals do know what warning signs to look at when they decide if something requires further investigation.
