DropBear I have a horrible suspicion we have the French to blame for this sexualisation of yoghurt. Several commentators on/explicators of French culture have written about the French cultural equating of yoghurt with sex and the consequential 'sexying' of French yoghurt advertising.

In the UK, we tend to see yoghurt as a. children's food b. a bit healthy c. a non-pharmaceutical remedy for thrush. None of these easily equates to sex.

Perhaps it the old cliche of Uk people/women being very pragmatic and a bit too straightforward has some basis? Perhaps this is why we don't really 'get' the sexiness of yoghurt?

I think it may be a true cultural divide - and it leads to adverts that are baffling (and annoying) when transmitted on UK TV.

It's hilarious. Such sophisticated, intelligent humour. She makes Leonard Rossiter in the Cinzano ad look like an amateur. It's comedy gold. I want to see it every day, several times, for the rest of my life. A blob of yoghurt on the end of the nose will never get tired.

Witchend I wonder about the supposed truism of 'all publicity is good publicity'.

I don't buy Muller yoghurt if I can help it. It's actually quite hard not to because over the last twenty years, a lot of smaller yoghurt manufacturers have disappeared from the shelves of supermarkets.

There was one Muller product I did buy (Vanilla fromage frais) but that's gone. I wouldn't buy one of their jam things: it's ersatz junk.

Oddly enough, the advert now serves to reinforce this opinion of mine every time I see it.

It occurred to me the other day that I am probably not alone in this. As advertising has increased, my suspicion is that people's interaction with it has perhaps changed a little. I wonder how many people become deeply resentful of some products because of the ubiquity of the advertising. I suspect there are quite a few.

As I said before, one of the most annoying things about Muller is its ubiquity. Fuck knows why they bother advertising. There is so much Muller on the shelves of supermarkets, I suspect they have a marketing policy similar to the Godfather. I think the Manager of our local Sainsbury woke up to find the head of his pet dog in bed with him.

Amazed to see Muller are still flogging this dead horse in 2019. The stuff is clearly that awful Shertzinger wouldn't eat it. And if they think an infuriating ad is still an effective one, I never buy Muller product because of it.

It may be doing the job that we're all talking about it but it sure doesn't make me want to bloody buy any!

We fucking hate it. We both have ocd. It makes us both cringe. It makes me wipe at my nose for some reason.
