To consider turning down job offer

Reason is - it's full time.

Full time is way way way too much for me - too many other demands pulling me every which way.

Have been offered four days a week but suspect even that is a bit much. Anyone else work four days a week? How do you find it? I'm suspicious I'll just end up doing full time hours on part time pay.

I'm a teacher (not school) and I work 3.5 days. It's great. No problems with workload.

I agree childcare costs are still high - but then we worked our that my working 3 days upwards makes no difference to finance. Financially for us 2 days a week would be best, but that's simply not enough time to do my job properly. And too much time at home with the kids.

I think working 3 or 4 days a week is pretty ideal and most friends agree.

Well, we're all different :) 4 days was a bit much I'm afraid.

Problem is that many heads don't like/can't find cover for one day a week so therefore 0.8 contracts are hard to find. You're more likely to find a proper 0.5 jobshare somewhere else

Yeah, I think these tend to be more common in primary schools: HTs don't tend to like split classes.

At any rate I am going to enjoy my time off Grin am toying with the idea of buying a business but need to look into it a bit more.

I do two days and that's enough. If I ever do an extra day for more than a week in a row then things like the house, kids, organising shit, starts to disintegrate and I end up feeling swamped. I don't have a massive amount of money but I decided to sacrifice a high salary for some time at home. It's not for everyone, but I'm glad I did it.
