To be raging at DH

I'm due to start my period any minute day so please be warned that I will not accept that I am in any way BU...

We had a small plumbing problem, it was contained and not causing any hassle/damage. DH thought he could fix it, so drained the entire system causing 'air-locks' apparently and now we have no water other than the cold tap in the kitchen.

I suggested, before he started that we call a plumber but no, he could have a go... Now we need an emergency plumber tomorrow and I won't be able to shower before work in the morning. He has form for this, assuming that he can fix something when it is clearly beyond his ability. So a small job turns into a massive job and we have to get someone in anyway after he has screwed it up

I am having to boil the kettle to get hot water, to wash up all the things I have had to empty from the dishwasher. I have a headache, am pre-menstrual and feeling murderous.

He thinks he is in the right because the original small problem is fixed, I we all know that he is in the wrong, it is only fixed because there is now no water!

Thank you for all the moral support, I am no less pissed off this morning! Normal boiler, oil fired (not combi) I'm not balancing on a step ladder which is balanced on two stools to get into the loft...

I have made it clear that he is to keep calling plumbers until it is fixed today, or I will not be coming back from work!

salsa please thank your DH for me. My muppet DH has tried the forcing water back up a couple of times but can't get it to clear. He was 'fixing' an upstairs toilet that had no check valve so had to drain the whole system...

I am going to have to wash in a bucket of warm water over the bath, I want to cry a bit.

When you call a plumber, call a builder as well to install a proper loft ladder. Your current arrangement is super dangerous.

Has your DH apologised yet? It's the lack of an apology that would really grind my gears.

Hurrah, my DC will not be coming from a broken home in the immediate future! A lovely plumber (I didn't meet him but he has assumed god-like proportions in my mind) has fixed the problem. He said he hadn't seen an air lock like it before and DH would not have been able to fix it without specialist equipment so why did he bloody try

Marital harmony has been resumed despite the lack of apology or any shouldering of responsibility on DH's part, and I'm too glad it is mended to argue.

Rhi you are not wrong and make a very good point. If you don't mind I won't mention it to DH in case he heads straight to the local builders merchant...

I get irritated by my DH's lack of interest in anything DIY or ability to attempt anything. Seriously I would love a man that could put a screw in the wall that was secure enough to hold a clock up.

But reading this, I am grateful he attempts nothing. We ,may have to pay for everything to be done (that I cannot do myself) but at least it is done right.
