To think that I can get rid of a c-section overhang

I've been reading online and there's very little information out there about how to get rid of a c-section overhang, and very little success stories of people having got rid of a c-section overhang. I've found myself obsessing over it (I know I shouldn't and that's probably BU, but I don't think it's unreasonable to want to look good in your own skin) and been working out daily and eating a really healthy balanced diet. I was overweight, and I'm now within healthy weight range. My skin has started tightening now and looking less wrinkly, but I'm worried that stupid overhang will never bugger off.

I am keeping faith that I can get rid of it though (google search suggests the only way to get rid of it is surgery, but I really don't want to believe that's the only way). Surely getting lean means no more overhang because there shouldn't be any more fat on the tummy to hang over?

Has anyone successfully lost their apron? :)

It's not normally fat, it's stretched skin.

Lost 2.5 stone... Overhang still there but smaller... Don't think the stretched skin can go on its own..

It isn't fat though so no amount of dieting or exercise will get rid of it. It's skin. If you are that bothered by it have a private caesarean and a tummy tuck at the same time.

I think it's silly to be that bothered by it that you need to post about it. What about post pregnancy boobs, stretch marks and all the other treats pregnancy leaves you with?

FutureGadgetsLab · 16/05/2016 17:21

I don't think it's silly to be bothered about it. I'm bothered by my post pregnancy boobs, I don't see why women have to pretend to absolutely love everything about pregnancy.

CaptainCrunch · 16/05/2016 17:22

It never goes away. My ds is 15 and I slimmed down to 8 stones 10lb and it was still there. Only option is a tummy tuck.

PregnantAndEngaged · 16/05/2016 17:22

Exactly FutureGadgets. And I don't have the budget for a private c-section or tummy tuck, that's why I'm hoping to find that it is possible to get rid of it through natural methods.

Have you had the cesarean yet? If not, it's not definite you'll get one. I didn't, although I had lots of other pregnancy related changes.

PregnantAndEngaged · 16/05/2016 17:26

Sorry, meant to say, I had a baby 11 months ago by EMCS.

I am the slimmest I have been since having a CS over 19 years ago, and doing two exercise classes targeting my core each week.

The overhang is still there, though not that noticeable now.

SquinkiesRule · 16/05/2016 17:29

Mine was much reduced when I was exercising a lot and had more muscle but never went completely. Now I've gained a few pounds it's more noticeable again. I hate it.

BillSykesDog · 16/05/2016 17:30

Mine shrank. It went when DS was about 3.5. I did diet and exercise and moisturise, but I think that time was the main thing that meant it went. And good genes and a bit of luck.

But then I got pregnant with twins. So I think I'm due another one!Grin

FutureGadgetsLab · 16/05/2016 17:30

Oh okay. In that case there isn't much you can do. Its frustrating isn't it.

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 16/05/2016 17:34

Get rid of skin through natural methods? Come on! Are you a magician Grin

Have you looked into something like a "vibro gym" Might be worth a Google.
