DS 9 months thinks he's about 2. Walks holding hands/with an A frame walker, climbs, crawls, is into everything. Does not nap often.

So I am stuck with where to go today. Unless I take DS out, he causes chaos at home. He climbs all over the furniture, licks the windows and chews up anything that isn't nailed down. He is constantly on the go!

I'm getting stuck with what to do with him all day. There's no soft play near me and I don't drive. Any ideas? I'm looking for something cheap preferably but I'm open to any suggestions.

I've taken him to museums before which he loved, he also likes garden centres.

I completely feel your pain. I have one of THOSE. I just imagine everyone looking at mine and thinking I must be a dreadful parent! The trouble is at 9 months they just don't understand NO.

DS would Houdini out of the chair seat, climb out of high chairs (to the point that they were impossible to use so he had to sit on my lap, car seats are a nightmare (I have to sit in the back with him, and going out my own is still difficult).

It DOES get better. I still have a Tasmanian devil but at least I can tell him no! now.

Wellies are your friend.

Red I'm thinking once he's a bit older it'll be easier. He's very strong, strong willed and has more energy than a bottle of lucozade and until he's big enough to understand no and run in the garden it's so difficult.

I'm in the same predicament with an 8.5 month old - he's also more full on than I ever imagined a baby could be and so bloody strong willed.

I find myself counting down to afternoon nap time so I can just sit and stare at the wall and recuperate before it starts again at 3.

I will be getting pots and pans out today though!

FutureGadgetsLab · 10/05/2016 10:49

Julju it's so difficult! He hasn't stopped since 6am, I'm going to just strap him in the pram and go in a minute. Anywhere. I hate being in the house.

My DS was like this. I had an all in one waterproof for him and waterproof trousers and coat for me. I would chuck him in the pushchair and we would be the only people in the playground in the rain. He loved it. He was also happy in wellies where shoes were reviled so maybe try those. Try taking him to the park. When he has the option of bare feet or shoes/wellies and he wants to play he an work it out.

When it was torrential and/or cold we would just go to the museum. Empty on weekdays, and with everything in cabinets he could safely belt around for ages.

Like yours my DS was literally climbing the walls if we were still in at 10am. We HAD to go out. He also napped at 11:30am so I would use that time to have lunch and read my book in a cafe :)

Nynaeves I think I might invest in an all in one waterproof for him.

He loves museums, so I think I'll do that next week (I've got the next few days planned), I've decided to brave the weather and visit my grandparents today. He's fallen fast asleep in his pushchair on the bus!

has anyone suggested a visit to a toy store?

RoganJosh · 10/05/2016 14:20

Or swimming?

We used to have a toddler group or class almost every morning so just had the afternoon to fill.

RedToothBrush · 10/05/2016 15:23

Gooutdoors is good for rainsuits for toddlers. The smallest size they do is 6 - 12 months.

FutureGadgetsLab · 10/05/2016 15:24

He's huge so I'm sure I'll be able to find a suit! Grin
