to ask if you can take food through security at the airport?

We are flyign from T2 at Manchester Airport. We were going to have lunch before we get to the airport but we are flying earlier than I thought. As such, we need to eat at the airport and I nearly died when I saw the prices of the food in one of the pubs I nearly spat my drink out. £11 for a burger?! So, I know they have a greggs and a spar shop at T2 arrivals. Was thinking of either packing some food to eat when we get through (homemade sarnies) or buying a sarnie from the supermarket or greggs but are we allowed to take them through? I know it's part of the holiday but I'm not paying over the odds for something by that much!!!

People say you can't but I always have. I recently took through a sandwich I got from Dominica to Madrid then Madrid to London
The only time I was told to throw away anything was a bottle of water at Dominica before I went through.

I take loads of food as DS has autism with food issues and won't eat most airplane food. He also gets hangry. Never been a problem.

I've always taken yoghurt and fruit purée pouches with no problem

We flew from Manchester T2 at Easter and took loads of food on with us. I also took empty water bottles but could not find a water fountain flight side so ended up having to buy water in Boots. As an aside it took an absolute age to clear check-in and security-even though they had opened a supplementary security section; I like to slather myself in £400 face cream in duty free and I didn't have time, by the time we had got through the checks we had to go straight to the gate. Leave yourselves longer than the 2 hours recommended.

Yes we always take pack up, remember though if you're going to America, you can't take any meat products off the plane with you, you have to leave your sausage rolls on the plane, no fruit or soft cheese either. Not sure about European flights, but USA are very strict on food coming in ( even in checked luggage, they had to open our case to check on the cheddar!)

Not a problem if the intention is to eat the food on the plane is it Beau?

Yes, leave plenty of time to get through Manchester security, especially if travelling at busy times and using one of the off site car parks. It once took us more than an hour to park, get there, drop bags off and get through security, rather pissing on our intention to sit down with a leisurely pint, but not an overpriced burger. We pretty much had to grab our Boots meal deal and go to the gate.

No not a problem eating them on the plane, but I love those little cocktail sausages, and it wounds me to leave them on the plane if we haven't eaten them all. Wink

I once had to throw away a packaged salad as the dressing was a liquid. It was completely sealed so I thought that was a bit ott. Sandwiches have always been fine.
