AIBU?

Is it bad to wait this long sending work emails?

Im starting a new job in August and they have kindly arranged a catch-up lunch to introduce me to people.

I am just looking through the email trail and I have just realised to my horror that I have taken about 5-7 days to replace to each stage of the email process e.g. does this day work for you, do you have any food preferences?

This is really not the done thing in the workplace is it!!!!!

Is this poor conduct?

And really, "no access" can't possibly be given anywhere anymore Oh yes it can, in rural Scotland. Yes, believe it or not, in the UK we still have places where there is no mobile phone signal or WiFi (and not that far north either, Angus Glens, for example). The whole world is not like an English city, you know!

I would just make sure you reply quicker in future. Too late to apologise for past delays, but in future just clear if you are going to be out of contact for a week or two - it is normal and fine, people just like to know when they can expect a reply.

Don't apologise! Just forget about it and be better in August.

I've been on a ridiculous project recently and had an email clear down last week, found 3 I didn't reply to / do at all.

I deleted them and will deal with it if the issue arises, horse bolted and all that!

I wouldn't know about English cities because I don't live in England. Hmm

I do know, that when we, as teachers, ask our kids to access the internet to do homework or a bit of research and they come back to us telling us that in 6 whole days they didn't manage to access the internet not even once, well...we know they are lying.

Once in an uncharacteristic act of passive aggression I purposefully didn't reply to an email from my manager for three hours .... im a bad judge of what's acceptable for reply times....

And really, "no access" can't possibly be given anywhere anymore. Not in the days of wifi/smartphones.

I travel for work in places where internet access is not guaranteed, or even impossible. I wouldn't dream of looking at my work email while on holiday.

Unless you have previously set a precedent of making yourself available 24/7 (making a rod for your own back IMO), or unless your work contract specifically requires this, then there is no need for it. All the more so given that the OP is not even being paid for it yet!
