We recently bought our first house and in great excitement have been laying a garden out to replace the gravel the previous owner had. We put alot of plants in which have taken and looked healthy until a neighbours cat discovered our new earth. This cat keeps spraying the plants and yesterday i noticed the plant he mostly sprayed has died. Our next door neighbour said she also having problems with the cats and poo and spray for yeard. Yes it cats poo not fox and we see the cats doing it. So please mntters what works to stop a cat doing its business. Ive heard lemon or orange peel might work. Id be grateful for any suggestions please.

Yes, spend a fortune on cat deterrants. It's your fault you want a lovely garden and other people's cats keep coming in and wrecking your lovely garden with their piss and shit.

Cat's just roam by nature don'tcha know! It's their god given right.

Owners don't know care what they got up to when they're out of their sight, so ya know, not their fucking problem.

Think im going to get a super soaker, chicken wire and i got something called move it that smells horrible. Someone suggested pepper too! I wont tell you what my dad suggested as its not happening. Think he was joking (i hope) after years of suffering in his garden. Anyway at the moment its dh running out in pjs! Any more suggestions that work are welcome. I do have canes sticking up around some plants!!!

It may be crazy, but it works Grin

My cat stays in and doesn't roam - no other cats can get in the garden. Win win. Grin

I've bought a motion-sensor water spray thing for £20 a few weeks ago. So far so good! I was happiest with this solution asI didn't want anything which involved chemicals or high-pitched sound as it might affect the hedgehogs or squirrels. I've seen birds take off quickly but at least water does them no harm. Obviously you need an outdoor tap for this. It's battery-operated but my kids have set it off loads (pretending to be naughty cats) as have I when checking the angle and distance, and the batteries are still going strong so far.
