Just seen this advertised on Facebook. Does it make anybody else feel uncomfortable? I just hate the weird 'always daddy's little girl' thing.

To think this Father's Day mug is creepy?

My DS is everything to me, but I'd be quite depressed that the thought that he might always, always love his old mum more than he does anyone else. I want him to always love me, of course, but I'd consider it a successful bit of parenting if he grew to love someone else more than me - such as the loves of his life, or any kids he might have. That's one of the things I hope is in his future.

One's love for one's kids is always going to be asymmetrical, and that's fine.

I'm not sure why love has to be so competitive. I love my husband, our daughter, my siblings, my parents. I'm not sure I could even begin to rank them in order of who I love more. I have different priorities as life goes on so daughter is prioritised over husband (mostly) etc, husband over parents (mostly) that will no doubt change as life changes. But to say I love any of them more or less than any other seems bizarre. Is it even possible to love just a little bit and love a lot?

I'm the baby of the family, I always will be. I'm 42 and I don't suppose it will every change, but equally, it's not really a problem. I tend to be less likely to be the one who hears about things first but I hear in the end so it's no biggie.

It is cringy, but I also see the creepiness. It's in suggesting that 'always being Daddy's girl' is somehow a good thing or something to aspire to.
Disempowering.
I love my dad and he loves me and I am very certain of his unconditional support. But I have so not been his little girl for quite some time. And surely that is how it should be?!

If I gave him that mug, he'd either think I am not well or that I am taking the piss Grin

A relative has "my heart belongs to daddy" tattooed on the inside of what she calls her wanking arm. Now that's fucked up!

Haha does she realise the context of that song? It's about a sugar daddy relationship.

Kudos to SouperSal for demonstrating the purpose of strikeout so perfectly.
