to let DS(10) carry the baby

DH (who I often call Mr Health & Safety) doesn't like it when DS(10) picks up the baby (6 months) to play with him at home.
AIBU to think the risk of him dropping the baby is minimal and that it's important for them to bond and play together despite the big age gap?
Would you let a ten year old carry a baby about? (At home only)

My 5 year old carries his 1 year old sister. He was going to do it anyway the moment my back was turned, so I taught him to do it safely.

of course a 10 year old can!

DD1 was 10 and DS was 8 & 3/4 when DD2 was born, both have carried her since birth. DS did have a lot more supervision and guidance but that's because he doesn't think of consequences and won't focus on one thing at a time. Despite that he hasn't dropped DD until this morning when he was supervising the now 16 month old on the trampoline and spotted a wasp so dropped her trying to get her off before the major danger came close enough to count the stripes!

I think Mr H&S needs to relax a little and teach DS to change nappies so he can really enjoy the sibling bond Grin
