Ex wants to show DD1 photo on TV dating show

Hi, just after some opinions as my gut instinct is a no, however I'm not sure if I'm being unreasonable.

My ex has successfully auditioned for a new TV dating show called "undressed" which is going to air in the summer (the concept is that two contestants stripped down to underwear and are on a bed for 30 mins getting to know each other Hmm ) google has a lot more information on the show which has been aired in Italy.

He has sent me release forms today in order for me to agree to a photo of our DD being shown on the show. My first reaction is no. I'm not a prude by any stretch of the imagination but I'm just feel uncomfortable with the kind of show it's being aired on. But I don't know if I'm being unreasonable or not.

WWYD? Any opinions would help, thanks

No fucking way.

bluespiral · 05/05/2016 12:54

Absolutely not. Also agree with pp to contact the production company too just to make sure.

diddl · 05/05/2016 12:54

"Producers Fizz told The Daily Mail that getting contestants into their undies straight away helps “accelerate intimacy” and explores “the accepted rules of attraction”. It has been described as a “brave and beautiful new dating concept”."

Sounds lovely!

Envy-puke face, obvs.

InternationalHouseofToast · 05/05/2016 12:54

If he's spending 30 minutes in bed getting to know someone, it's not his parenting skills that are relevant so no, they don't need to know he's a dad or to show images of his DD.

molyholy · 05/05/2016 12:54

Fuck that!! There is no reason whatsoever for your dd's pic to be shown on such an embarassing show.

the concept is that two contestants stripped down to underwear and are on a bed for 30 mins getting to know each other

I can see why he is your ex. How cringey Blush

BarbarianMum · 05/05/2016 12:56

Show sounds awful but it wouldn't bother me.

starry0ne · 05/05/2016 12:57

Showing pic of DC while 2 people are in bed in underwear is a definite no from me..

dippypanda · 05/05/2016 13:00

Yes it's for the audience to go "ahhhhhh...what a great daddy..." Is he? our daughter dotes on him, like most daughters do but I struggle to see it to be honest, its a struggle for her to have more then a few hours a week with him.

I would say 'yes' actually but use an old photo the sad thing is there is probably only about two photos of the two of them together from when she was younger.

No. And I would copy the forms and write to the television company stating that you do not want your child's photo used so that the forms can't be mysteriously filled on your behalf too. This is a good idea, he has emailed me the forms so I have the contact details as well.

I'm fairly relaxed about pictures of my kids on facebook etc but this would be a huge big no to me to!
and ugh at the whole concept anyway!

AdoraBell · 05/05/2016 13:07

NO.

RedToothBrush · 05/05/2016 13:10

The thing is, won't he tell your daughter he's going on tv ESPECIALLY if her photo is going to be shown.

Her natural response is going to be... ?

... I think you need to also consider how you tackle that one too.

I'm surprised he asked too, unless the release form has to be signed by both parents, which is surprising, I would have thought it would fall under parental responsibility.

firesidechat · 05/05/2016 13:21

Presumably he has her best interests at heart too.

Erm, how on earth can it be in the best interests of a 5 year old to have her face on a tacky dating show? I don't think so.

Toddzoid · 05/05/2016 13:25

No way and that show sounds dreadful

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 05/05/2016 13:26

Not a cat's chance in hell.
Not this sort of show, no.
Ugh.
Totally agree that you should send the company your refusal directly, so they can't use any photo of your DD.

GasLightShining · 05/05/2016 13:27

Absolutely not!

Might consider if it was more along the lines of Blind Date but not sure I would even then. But lying in your underwear is sleazy

twirlypoo · 05/05/2016 13:49

Not a chance in hell would I say yes - and I use photos of my son in my business advertising sometimes so I really am very relaxed about these things.

LogicalThinking · 05/05/2016 15:28

Not a chance!
Another parent will see the show and recognise her, then tell their child who will say something to her. She will then want to watch her dad on TV. It all sounds hideous.

sue51 · 05/05/2016 16:00

That's a hell no from me.

MarthaCliffYouCunt · 05/05/2016 16:03

Why the fuck would anyone's child be relevant to their appearace on a dating show!

Definitely not OP.

neighbourhoodwoes · 05/05/2016 16:04

No from me too

UptownFunk00 · 05/05/2016 16:17

No from me too, how seedy!

Why would anyone want to be on TV half naked with another stranger? Exhibishionist (DP) much?

UptownFunk00 · 05/05/2016 16:18

Urgh my phone can't spell - you get the idea.
