Is there such thing?
I have recently moved to a new place, don't really know anyone here and haven't made any friends within the time I've been here.(6months) I have been to babygroup but while it's fine to chat to people there I find it hard to "ask someone out" (that's a bit how it feels like..). Not sure if that's the done thing? What if they say no...

How can i make friends?
I have 2 young kids and currently staying at home, days are pretty busy but sometimes would be nice to chat to somebody, have a coffee, paydate for kids etc
Pls tell me what are the normal ways of making friends? Or does it just happen?I haven't felt the need to make friends for so many years before the move, and thought that somehow it does just happen, but what if it doesn't .
I really am not a socially awkward weirdoSmile,
Or maybe i am Confused

Marking my place. I'm relocating in September. I moved to my current city five years ago and my local meetup.com was great, local mn scene active, etc. I can't find anything based in my home town (where I'm relocating to), I'm really worried about it.

Try Citysocialiser? They have a woefully crap app as well as the website. It's good but I think they only have a presence in the bigger cities as it relies on members to host
socials. Worth a look.

Do you have any interests or hobbies that could lead to meeting people. E.g. a band or a choir. I suppose with young children it might be difficult getting time fo

...for that. It shot off to soon

CaffeineBomb · 04/05/2016 22:52

Mummysocial is good you can message local mums for a chat and receive notifications when people organise group socials in your area. It's how I met one of my best friends Smile

Wasn't there a thread earlier this evening from a poster singing the praises of an app that does exactly that? It might have been in chat: I think posters were beginning to suspect the OP was posting on behalf of the app company. At any rate, it seems an app does exist though whether it's any good or what's it's called I'm afraid I can't remember!

Gowgirl · 05/05/2016 07:57

There's one called mush, I thought this was a plug for that!
Interesting but the messaging doesn't seem to be working on it.

RattieOfCatan · 05/05/2016 08:06

bingles The app needed loads of permissions that I personally feel really uncomfortable with! I think it was not very popular too and it seemed as though it had started in her area as there were only 100 or so downloads yet she had already organised to meet a few people.

TheWildRumpy I am in Northants too and started a thread yesterday trying to arrange a meet up - little response though :(

RoseDawson · 05/05/2016 08:11

If you can find the meetup group that's right for you- start one! That's what I did and a year later we have just under 600 members & I've never looked back!

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 05/05/2016 08:16

SunnyOutside - where did you start your thread? I'm definitely up for making some local friends Smile
